Story
Behind a smokescreen of “preparing students for the new industrial economy,” early progressives had political control in mind. America’s original schools didn’t just make kids memorize facts or learn skills; they taught them to think freely and arrive at wisdom. They assigned the classics, inspired love of God and country, and raised future citizens that changed the world forever.

Women are turning up dead. And Lisa O'Malley digging into a crime means trouble is soon to follow. She's a forensic pathologist and mysteries are her domain. Audio book number three in the O'Malley series brings back Lisa O'Malley and U.S. Marshal Quinn Diamond from The Guardian in a tense investigative thriller. I listen to the whole series and other Dee Henderson books every year and have for almost 20 years. Tough issues regarding Christianity are discussed in a manner that is direct, but respectful and true and not cheesy at all. It’s very impressive. The author also does a great job with the dialogue.

I listen to this entire series and the Falcon books every year, at least once, for the past 10-15 years. I read them before audible existed. I love the way the author deals with faith so in depth and not cheesy at all. It’s real stuff that people feel and deal with.

Joey Darling, actress and detective by default, is reminded of this point daily. If only problems could be solved in 60 minutes, complete with commercial breaks, closing credits, and a catchy theme song. Joey accompanies Detective Jackson Sullivan to a crime scene, only to discover she knows the victim. After a friend is accused of murder, Joey can’t refuse her help - however bumbling it might be. Unfortunately, she only seems to dig up more questions instead of desperately needed answers.

I love this series. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I am having so much fun listening to it. This reader is absolutely amazing. She also does the Katie Parker series. I knew the reader was amazing, but I wasn’t going to write a review until she executed a great Australian accent in this book. After that I knew I had to hand it to her.
