Story
In the snowbound city of Kiev, wry and bookish history student Mila Pavlichenko organizes her life around her library job and her young son—but Hitler’s invasion of Russia sends her on a different path. Given a rifle and sent to join the fight, Mila must forge herself from studious girl to deadly sniper—a lethal hunter of Nazis known as Lady Death. When news of her three hundredth kill makes her a national heroine, Mila finds herself torn from the bloody battlefields of the eastern front and sent to America on a goodwill tour.

Mesmerizing story of fierce determination, comradery, family ties, and heroism. Excellent narrator with great accent and range. Historical fiction at its best

Female lead is angry her father has been called a coward. She is living with the consequences and trying to prove herself worthy. Great story of secrets and failures and friendships in a hectic starship pilot’s training ground. Kept me on the edge of my seat.

Story
Bhima, the unforgettable main character of Thrity Umrigar’s beloved national best seller, The Space Between Us, returns in this triumphant sequel - a poignant and compelling novel in which the former servant struggles against the circumstances of class and misfortune to forge a new path for herself and her granddaughter in modern India. Poor and illiterate, Bhima had faithfully worked for the Dubash family, an upper-middle-class Parsi household, for more than 20 years.

Story of heartache and tenderness

I think it is helpful to read The Space Between Us first for background, but The Secrets Between Us is the real gem. It takes us from despair and slowly climbs to friendship and family and hope. Beautifully narrated
