Story
The tattooed plus sign on Finnegan's hand marks him as a Positive. At any time the zombie virus could explode in his body, turning him from a rational human into a ravenous monster. His only chance of a normal life is to survive the last two years of the potential incubation period. If he reaches his 21st birthday without an incident, he'll be cleared.

Never give up!
Reviewed: 07-31-24
It was wonderful to enjoy a story about one kid and his belief in survival. To see an underdog keep fighting, not just for himself but for others like him. I giot frustrated with how naive Fin was, but it forced me to see things from a different perspective. I guess that’s a good thing since so many people today are just as clueless!
I enjoyed the characters that moved in and it of the story, how people grew and changed or reverted to their baser selves.
The world building was excellent!

Not your average superhero!
Reviewed: 01-21-24
I picked up this audiobook because Rgett Bruno can write and RC Bray is a great narrator. Wow! Not at all what I expected. It"s big on human insight, a clear view of our broken foster system, heavy on the reality of money and politics giving some people too much advantage, and overall human frailty. A bit dark and painful but well worth the time to listen.

Story
The Catenan Republic—the Hierarchy—may rule the world now, but they do not know everything. I tell them my name is Vis Telimus. I tell them I was orphaned after a tragic accident three years ago, and that good fortune alone has led to my acceptance into their most prestigious school. I tell them that once I graduate, I will gladly join the rest of civilized society in allowing my strength, my drive, and my focus—what they call Will—to be leeched away and added to the power of those above me, as millions already do. As all must eventually do.

No wasted words!
Reviewed: 09-17-23
So often authors write useless chapters and pages of information that has no reason to exist. Not here! Theree a purpose behind every word of this twisting story. I enjoyed that immensely! Being able to assoviate previous little slight of words to the newest event was enjoyable. Kevin Powers is a madter craftsman. He did his research and brought mind pictures of Norfolk and Washington DC up, despite my not being in either city for decades.
Christine Lakin dif a phenomenal job as narrator, kept it interesting, tense when necessary, yet never over dramatic.
I will definitely be looking for more of Powers crestions and Lakin narrations.

Story
The truth is neither plain nor simple. Sable, a reluctant thief from the slums, can feel truth when people speak. For years she’s been using that skill to try to break free from the vicious gang boss to whom she's indebted. Escape comes in the form of an odd set of companions: a dwarf running from the past, an actor with a magical, glowing tree, a too-helpful kobold, a playwright with a knack for getting stories out of people, and a man and woman with suspicious, magical powers. But Sable’s freedom is short lived.

Torturous monotony just to dig down to a story.
Reviewed: 09-02-23
All the maki gs of an epic saga are here, sadly the writer thought putting you into a coma first was necessary. The narrator did a decent job, considering what she had to work with, but her voice is one of the most grating. The tedium of listening was probably as bad as having to read it aloud.

Characters were well developed! World building was sublime! And Warlord was a master at deception!

Very good book with unusual but interesting characters. Kept me wondering what was going to happen and, unlike most books, I couldn’t guess the ending. Dax was the strangest character. He certainly wasn’t a good guy but I was left wanting to know more of his story and what he’d be doing next! I’ll definitely be checking out more books by Michael Koryta and Robert Petkoff just went on my list of narrators I’ve enjoyed!
