Story
Adrift in a raft after a deadly ship explosion, 10 people struggle for survival at sea. Three days pass. Short on water, food, and hope, they spot a man floating in the waves. They pull him in. “Thank the Lord we found you,” a passenger says. “I am the Lord,” the man whispers. So begins Mitch Albom’s most beguiling and inspiring novel yet.

First non-human narrator for me
Reviewed: 05-27-24
I listened to this book for three reasons. First, non-human narrator, second, no reviews had been made of the book, and third, the summary sounded interesting.
First: let us not do away with our wonderful narrators. Most words were spoken correctly with decent cadence and even some emotion, but nothing like the good narrators.
Second, I cannot believe I’m the first person ever to read this book! Yet no reviews? Not even in single digits? How many times in the audible universe will I have a chance to be first again?
Finally, the book was okay. It wasn’t riveting but I stayed with it. The writing was good. I will likely read something else by the author going forward. But, I will steer away fr non-human narrators.

For most of the last hundred years, Biloxi was known for its beaches, resorts, and seafood industry. But it had a darker side. The vice was controlled by small cabal of mobsters, many of them rumored to be members of the Dixie Mafia.

I’m a big Grisham fan. This book was ok. Certainly not his best. I don’t think he can produce a “worst,” but it was so so.
The narrator did a great job. It’s pretty hard, I think, to pull of English and Italian, nearly simultaneously, much less getting the accents right. Good job.

The author did a fantastic job of fleshing out the statue of Lincoln that most consider. I saw many positive similarities between his style, action and connection with the common man that President Trump also had. Since it’s a leadership book, I found the points made and applied for modern business credible and beneficial if more leaders and managers employed them. I recommend this book.
