Story
Every so often a love story so captures our hearts that it becomes more than a story—it becomes an experience to remember forever. The Notebook is such a book. It is a celebration of how passion can be ageless and timeless, a tale that moves us to laughter and tears and makes us believe in true love all over again . . .

Not as good as the movie
Reviewed: 02-16-24
Some books are just better than the movie, that’s not the case here but without it there wouldn’t have been a movie. The bones were good enough to develop a visual story and that makes it good enough.

I have listened to hundreds of audiobooks and liked most all of them, but not this one. Did the author use obscure words so we’d think he was clever? I don’t.
The narrator spoke slowly to build up tension but all he did was put me to sleep.

The book is fun, quirky and edgy. The characters are easy to like and the story easy to follow.
Also Ray Porter does a great job narrating with just enough enthusiasm with out going overboard.

With all of the pluck and charm of its eponymous young hero, Rachel McAdams (The Notebook, Spotlight, Midnight in Paris) delivers a spectacular reading of Montgomery's beloved bildungsroman. In moments both funny and bittersweet, McAdams' voice is imbued with the spark that has made Anne a much-loved symbol of individualism and cheer for over a century.

I loved everything! The story of a young girl coming of age and the road to getting there was delightful. Anne’s youthful imagination and view of the world is totally opposite to the youngsters of today. They will never know the satisfaction of building forts or making daisy chains in a field of grass on a warm summer day.
