Absolutely everything about this story was amazing. Emotional, moving although not my typical genre, I loved every minute of this. Kept me up at night, and while I needed to know how it ended I wanted it to continue. The characters and stories will stay with me.

Story
Caroline Overington's stunning fiction debut is a multi-voiced novel centred around a child's death and its terrible repercussions. In 1982 Victorian police were called to a home on a housing estate an hour west of Melbourne. There, they found a five-year-old boy lying still and silent on the carpet. There were no obvious signs of trauma, but the child, Jacob, died the next day. The story made the headlines, and hundreds attended the funeral. Few people were surprised when the boy's mother and her boyfriend went to prison for the crime.

Loved this story. The title is a little misleading and I wish when I read the synopsis it didn’t share the suspicion about Lauren. This story is about family and love. It’s also about survival. Not my usual genre but absolutely recommend. Narration is great and enjoyed the unique way the story is told

I listened to this right away because French is my favorite. I liked it and just listened again and loved it! The relationships between these characters and how the author assumes the reader is intelligent is what I love most. The subtle themes and exchanges between characters allow the reader to understand who they are. I am so excited to read the next story!! French will always be my favorite author!

Story
Five years ago, ordinary Americans fell under the grip of a strange new malady that caused them to sleepwalk across the country to a destination only they knew. They were followed on their quest by the shepherds: friends and family who gave up everything to protect them. Their secret destination: Ouray, a small town in Colorado that would become one of the last outposts of civilization. Because the sleepwalking epidemic was only the first in a chain of events that led to the end of the world—and the birth of a new one.

Incredible writing and the characters in the story are so well developed I miss them, like old friends and some not so much. I cried and laughed and never wanted this story to end. The story was scary because of how real it felt. The choices we make and what we choose to believe are so important to our future. So many parallels in what you see happening today. This is a must read!!
