For those wondering, this book falls on the younger side of YA, with distinct characters who are all trying to find their place in a world of impending doom. There's no spice (I hate to even have to mention this...but it's a thing in YA now) and very little blood. I highly enjoyed this story!

I read this book when it was first released, but listening to the audiobook made me fall in love with it all over again! I can't wait to read book 2. I don't know what the author has in store for us, but once Kara learns how to better control her powers, it's game over for the Arianyte Empire...😈

Two brothers try to survive an abusive father without losing themselves in the process.

It took a while to get used to the way the story is structured, but I was immersed from beginning to end!

This story reminded me of Outlander, but with a strong Christian theme. It's a slow burn romance where the guy gets the girl in the end...but she doesn't make it easy.

p.s. The narrator was awesome!

I wasn't sure what to expect from this short story, but I'm happy to say I enjoyed it...especially the dialogue.

I don't want to give anything away, but I won't be looking at cats the same way again for a while...lol.

I disliked this book so much! There were a few things that irked me, but the main issue was with the MC--Adele--her relationship triangle, and almost every decision she made. I'm not sure why YA authors like to make the characters irrationally stupid, but it pains me when they do.

The writing was great, and the narrator did an excellent job. I don't know if this is a standalone, but there were many holes that needed to be filled.

Every time Poppy talks trash it's an eye roll moment. The author managed to make me hate Casteel, and his parents are beyond pathetic. I heard there are supposed to be 6 books in this series, and I don't think I can put myself through 3 more. The 1st book was amazing, the 2nd was pretty good (just too damn long), and then there's this...

Isobel, a half-elven girl, discovers a dark secret about her family's past in this tale of good versus evil. As the story progresses, she must learn how to utilize the powers inherited from her mother in order to save her loved ones, along with the rest of the world.

Little does she know, the evil behind the veil is her own half-sister.

This was an interesting story, and with the different elven races being introduced, each one coming with their own set of elemental magic, I can't wait to see what Isobel, and her best friend, Mauve, gets into next.

I don't normally do fairytale remakes, but this one was great! The narrator had the perfect voice for the story, and combined with the author's writing style, I was immediately cast into the fantasy world, journeying alongside Clara, and her bitter step-sister, Griselda.

The best thing about this book was the writing itself. I thought the sentences flowed really well. The style reminded me of J.F. Kuang's The Poppy War.

The story, however, didn't hold my interest. I didn't like the insta-love between the MC and their choice of partner. Given the story, I'm actually confused why there was a love interest at all. Take the relationship away, and you have the same exact story. Also, the characters weren't fleshed out well enough for my liking; it was hard caring what happened to any of them. The revolution was bland, and I'm curious why the automatons--the dragon included--didn't have bigger roles. Definitely not my cup a tea.
