Unexpected and outstanding installment

What a wonderful production for a story I didn’t know I needed. This prequel gave an already rich character a proper story, ending with a satisfying conclusion.

Story
Sorry... Really? Thrust? Anyway, Danny Kendrick was a down-on-his luck performer who always struggled to find his place. He certainly never wanted to be a hero. He just hoped to earn a living doing what he loved. That all changes when he pisses off the wrong guy and gets sucked into a fantasy realm straight out of a Renaissance Fair. Getting used to a new world is tough. It's even tougher when you're surrounded by axe-wielding barbarians, super hot elf assassins, strange magic, and a jaded System that doesn't appear interested in being charged with yet another companion.

Yet again, a well written, performed, and orchestrated audiobook. I cannot compliment this team enough on their thought provoking, wildly detailed world. If there were ever a chance for this to be a movie, I’d throw all my spirit coins at it!

In 2059, two vastly different groups of people portrayed by the compelling trio of Brendan Fraser (Academy Award winner), Luke Kirby (Emmy Award winner), and Vanessa Sears (Dora Award winner) undergo cryonic suspension. While their bodies are frozen, their minds, still active and awake, are uploaded into a massive quantum computer. The first group are all astronauts, about to leave Earth on a one-way interstellar colonization mission. The second group consists of convicted murderers and volunteers who elect to serve their sentences in a virtual-reality prison.

A cool premise that decayed into propaganda…
Reviewed: 11-14-23
First, voice acting was great, Brendan Fraser was likable, as usual, and the rest of the cast were solid.
The story just lost steam….it became a schlog of virtue signaling and male bashing…I’m not against equality and all that jazz but there were more than one jabs at the male gender for seemingly no reason…also, all female characters were “perfect” and “justified”…only men were portrayed as bad.
Listen, I wanted this to be a good book…blame the writer for making it into a guilt trip for being male with a story arch that frankly…didn’t need it.
