Story
A world on the precipice of the apocalypse. A secret forged in the flames of war. A chance to start over. For John Sutton, only one of those three things matters. Retired from a decade of brutal war, he wants nothing more than a quiet pastoral life while he does his best to stem the steady increase of his Doom Points before they hit 100, signaling the start of the end. He’s been given a small farm on the outskirts of the empire as thanks for his service, but no matter how far he travels, it's impossible to escape the war's devastating effects on the world.

Story
The world teeters on the brink of destruction. The people who should be saving the Earth ignore Jason Asano's warnings and choose to loot the house as it burns down around them. He lacks the strength to save the world himself, but resolves to do it anyway, impossible be damned. The impossible, in this case, means seizing a power that no mortal should touch. It's a choice from which there is no turning back, and marks Jason's first step into a wider cosmos that he is not yet ready to face. Holding the fate of two worlds in his hands, Jason must decide for himself what home truly means.

Loving the series and continue to enjoy the work and characters, hoping it keeps up the quality and doesn't lose its way with the rank ups, magnitude between ranks is becoming more vague as it's often described the same.

Story
It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

This is a phenomenal book. Not the best narrator.
Reviewed: 09-18-23
This book is fantastic, and the main character is awesome. I think that I read a lot of reviews on this and thought they were helpful but it was either being review bombed or the individuals that wrote those reviews missed a lot of the content, either through not paying attention or the subtleties going over their heads. This main character has a lot of depth if you are an intellectual individual and enjoy the process of thinking. You will find that his thinking is also well mapped out and explained. The world and mechanics are thoroughly thought through. This is a great piece of work and I loved the characters and story. The narrator makes mistakes, and didn't go back and fix them. Not sure if this wasn't check or if the narrator didn't check their own work but at times the wrong accent is used for characters, making it confusing to understand who is talking. The book is good at saying who is talking so you will notice the mistakes made. Bit sad the narrator didn't go back and correct their mistakes by just doing a little re-recording and editing.

A whole chapter on shit
Reviewed: 02-20-23
Literally there is a chapter on him taking a shit. And that's not all, It feels like the writer has given up. Like he really enjoyed his work, then at some point didn't and lost all direction. It feels horrible, everyone I recommend this series to I tell them there is only 7 books. If they ask about this one I just complain until they agree not to listen.

Story
In The Land: Predators, the Mist Village has harnessed its power. With core buildings, professional fighters, and now their own dungeon, the settlement is primed to grow into a kingdom of true power and magic. The path to power has not been without risk, however. The MistVillage has been noticed. Evil nobles from the Kingdom of Law, bloodthirsty goblins from the Serrated Mountains, an undead lord with a penchant for human sacrifice, and fanatical kobolds from the Depths all plot the village's destruction.

Theft and reuse at a prodigious rate
Reviewed: 10-28-22
I really don't like how characters, ideas, mechanisms, personalities and more are stolen at a prodigious rate. The repetitive use of sayings and words happens at a prodigious rate. And I would rate it 5 stars if it wasn't for one the prodigious reuse of sayings and if I wasn't alone in this.

Kinda good but good but kinda bad

Excellent though it's often very cringe which makes it difficult to enjoy, also the amount of repetition of "luckily" and "if not for one reason" makes it feel like the bottom of creativity was found.
