This has been a fun romp with some crazy genre-bending storytelling. It has great world-building and character development, with a firm planting of tongue-in-cheek humour. I highly recommend the series.

I was a bit disappointed with this book's pacing. Good luck. I cannot seem to place my finger quite as nicely as Allongs’. Steinbeck has the last surprise; book so after the holiday in Neice.

This story was an entertaining listen for the long weekend I've had so far. My only regret was not having a what-is-real vs fiction section at the end of the book. It would have been nice to know some of the source material this story was based on and how far we are from this reality.

This series of books has it all with adventure, treasure, lairs, and villains. It has thus far been a great time spent losing yourself in an Indiana Jonesesque story with just enough of a teaser to keep you wanting more. Love this.

Love the character development and play/chemistry between them. The dialogue and back-and-forth between could be better. But the story works and im interested in seeing where this goes.

King Ludwig II of Bavaria was an enigmatic figure who was deposed in 1886, mysteriously drowning three days later. Very enjoying and gripping story...

Having spent time in the area, it was like being there again. I could taste the beer and hear the cheer of everyone in the hall.
The narrator was articulate and unobtrusive in their delivery...made you very comfortable and was easy to play the “movie” in my head as I listen to Scott Brick voicing the narrative.
As for the story, it was intricate without banging you on the head with an overabundance of detail/history. I do wish the books would focus more on Cotton’s perspective the bouncing about from every man jack in the story.

This is a great view into the world of Eisler
Reviewed: 12-31-22
Barry Eisler has a very different take on the assassin/espionage/military action adventure genre. This book fills in the details of one of the best supporting role characters in the world that Eisler has built. It show the a depth of emotions and sense of purpose not detailed in other characters out there. It doesn’t gloss over the trauma that goes into building the person that is Dox beyond just the bullet points of the novels that he has appeared in already. But gives you the raw visceral knife gutting explosion of chunky character meat needed to enjoy the tik tok of this world view.
