Story
It's been one helluva morning.... And Hope hasn't even found the body. At least not yet. After a 12-year absence, investigative reporter Hope Walker is back home. In Hopeless, Idaho. And it's not going well. It seems the town and its citizens haven't changed much. Still weird. Still nosy. And a few of them? Downright hateful. And now Hope has a serious problem. Because one of the hateful is dead. And she's the prime suspect.

The simple story was not enhanced by the overthetop performance. I finished the book... barely.

Women can be heroes. When twenty-year-old nursing student Frances “Frankie” McGrath hears these words, it is a revelation. Raised in the sun-drenched, idyllic world of Southern California and sheltered by her conservative parents, she has always prided herself on doing the right thing. But in 1965, the world is changing, and she suddenly dares to imagine a different future for herself. When her brother ships out to serve in Vietnam, she joins the Army Nurse Corps and follows his path.

This is an amazing story of an underappreciated group of women. They are American heroes.

Mary Kay Andrews does not disappoint with this new book. Her characters are quirky and the mystery has lots of twists and turns. A fun read for a relaxing day at the beach.
