About this listen

A funny cozy mystery series full of bold women, a quirky and lovable town, and one seriously hopeless romance.

It's been one helluva morning....

And Hope hasn't even found the body.

At least not yet.

After a 12-year absence, investigative reporter Hope Walker is back home.

In Hopeless, Idaho.

And it's not going well.

It seems the town and its citizens haven't changed much.

Still weird. Still nosy. And a few of them?

Downright hateful.

And now Hope has a serious problem.

Because one of the hateful is dead.

And she's the prime suspect.

Enjoyable read.

I enjoyed the story, setting (Idaho), and the characters. I liked that the narration was anamiated, however some of the characters voices were "screeching". This is the first book I have read by Daniel Carson and I am looking forard to book 2 in this series.

Avid Audio Book Listener, Excellent

I listen to audio books A LOT. This was excellent. I had read this when it came out and have enjoyed reading the series. Decided to try the audio version. It was like hearing the book for the first time! It just came to life! Looking forward to hearing the rest of the series!

Loved this book!

A great escape from daily life, this immersive Daniel Carson story and fantastic narration transporter me to Hopeless through a surprisingly light and funny story of murder, heartbreak, job loss and coming home.

Thanks for taking me away!

Loved this book!

I have been anxiously waiting for A Hopeless Murder to be released on Audible, and I was not disappointed! I loved this book and my only complaint is that it’s over and I want more! Daniel Carson does such a great job of developing his characters and moving the story along at a great pace. I have such a vivid picture in my mind of each resident of the town of Hopeless. I didn’t want to stop listening. I was surprised by how the story ended- not what I predicted. I can’t wait for the next book to be released and to see what’s next for Hope Walker. Five stars!

Hooked!

This book series came recommended to me by a friend even though I'm usually a military sci-fi and fantasy book lover. Once I got started it was very hard to stop listening and, by the end of the book, I couldn't believe how much I enjoyed it! The writing is engaging and easy to digest with just the right amount of humor. The character development is creative and vivid enough to easily imagine the whole cast. The story has the perfect amount of complexity to it to keep you guessing but not enough to make your head hurt. Sign me up for the rest of the series, I can't wait to see what other mysteries lurk around the corner!

The voice actress was fantastic and did a fabulous job bringing the characters and story to life!

Characters developed

While a bit cheesy at times with respect to dialogue, the development of the characters as the story moved along was outstanding! Not only do we get to know the characters we get to know them in a manner that made me believe I’d known them a long time. Well done!

Trite Story

The simple story was not enhanced by the overthetop performance. I finished the book... barely.
