Story
Late Victorian London. When James Miller, the most respectable of Scottish businessmen, is pulled, dead, from the Thames, his daughter is drawn into an investigation which reveals a whole world of secrets and corruption. Alongside local detective Culley, Catriona’s search for her father’s killer leads all the way to the tragic truth behind the ghostly legend of The Darkwater Bride and the power of her deadly kiss. The Darkwater Bride combines the genres of the Victorian mystery thriller with the equally classic Victorian mode of the ghostly tale.

the whole presentation came off as very cheesy and I honestly couldn't get more than an hour into it. Save your money!

Story
The Emperor of All Maladies reveals the many faces of an iconic, shape-shifting disease that is the defining plague of our generation. The story of cancer is a story of human ingenuity, resilience, and perseverance but also of hubris, arrogance, paternalism, and misperception, all leveraged against a disease that, just three decades ago, was thought to be easily vanquished in an all-out "war against cancer".

As a first year medical student, I loved how much teaching this author was willing to do. You really don't need a medical background to appreciate the complexity of this book and on top of walking away feeling educated, this story enlightens. Very, very well done

Too cheesy to finish

The male narrator's falsetto yelling "Nooooooo" and "Ahhhh" for female characters was too much. It sounded fake and mocking. The protagonist is not a believable character with some of the worst lines that came off as false, I got 7 hours in and couldn't bring myself to listen to anymore. Save your money
