Other reviewers have been rather hard on the way the book is categorized. “Too much religion.” It’s an important part of how the family copes with all the conflict and dangerous situations they face. This is a subject that has been addressed well and extensively researched. It gives you a glimpse of the way other ethnic groups were persecuted. My husband’s grandparents were ethnic Germans lured to the Ukrainian area for their farming abilities and the offer of land. They weren’t involved in any of the World Wars and began to immigrate to the US prior to 1890 because they were conscientious objectors as Mennonite’s and men being conscripted into military service.

First book by this and anything based around Korean tradition, the Korean War and people who fled to the US not knowing what had happened to family members they were torn from and didn’t know whether they were dead or alive. A glimpse of PTSD in the way they adapted to a new country and a way of life. Eye opening and makes me ready to search for more about the subject and the area. My dad was a Seabee during the time but area he was deployed to was the Aleutian Islands. If I hadn’t trained as an RN I definitely would be a history major. Sounds like a Korean holocaust. Not much cultural diversity in West Central Arkansas.

Too much jumping from narrators and as you go from characters the dates and times aren’t consecutive but sometimes more than a year. You guys are better than this.

The first I've read about what some of the women did toward the war effort. Has it's thrills, chills and humor as well. I got it as a free read but would gladly pay to read it again.

I didn't know what to expect and I have little knowledge of Ottoman Turkish life. The book is engaging and I have to say I had to hold my breath hoping for the heroine and hero. Immensely entertaining.

it was a little slow starting but I began to learn other things that happened during the holocaust. it also mentions the emotional trauma suffered by the survivors next generation. it backs up the professional opinion of a psychologist (also in an Audible book) who is a camp survivor. highly recommended for people wanting to be able to pass on to our next generations.

This is the 3rd of a series by the author. It combines realistic family drama, Spirituality with some humor thrown in. I purchased the series originally on release and am so glad to have it in my Audible library. This author is one of my early inspirational reading favorites.
