Story
The world outside has grown toxic, the view of it limited, talk of it forbidden. The remnants of humanity live underground in a single silo. But there are always those who hope, who dream. These are the dangerous people, the residents who infect others with their optimism. Their punishment is simple. They are given the very thing they want: They are allowed to go outside.

This narrator was amazing!

This didn’t feel like every other post apocalypse novel. It definitely has the ominous feel but also the sense that this is just the story that started everything up again after a long history of totalitarian silo living.

The morning a distraught mother comes into her office, Jessica would prefer to nurse her hangover and try to forget last night’s poor choices. But something about Amber Randall’s story strikes a chord with her. Amber is adamant that something happened to her teenage twins while they were visiting their father in the UK.

This book has a lot more heart than I was expecting. Superpowers are there, but the whole story doesn’t revolve around them. It’s a smaller story about love and of course vampires.

Story
To her adoring fans, Emmy Jackson, aka @the_mamabare, is the honest “Instamum” who always tells it like it is. To her skeptical husband, a washed-up novelist who knows just how creative Emmy can be with the truth, she is a breadwinning powerhouse chillingly brilliant at monetizing the intimate details of their family life.To one of Emmy’s dangerously obsessive followers, she’s the woman that has everything—but deserves none of it.

I was looking for a mystery novel with a female lead, but I wasn’t expecting a social commentary on social media and jealousy. I was pleasantly surprised! Not great, but captivating

Narrator makes it hard to get into.

This narrator sounds like a fairly well programmed computer text reader. The stories are good, but he sounds stilted and bored.

Story
An 11-year-old boy's violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City's most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

Meh, okay story written very well.

Fans of ‘Bag of Bones’ and ‘Duma Key’ will like this brand of King. The flow of the writing is strong King, but ‘The Outsider’ doesn’t know if it wants to be a supernatural ghost story, a fantastical urban legend come to life or a hillbilly crime thriller. As a combination of these ideas, it becomes a bit muddled.
