Publisher's summary

"Beyond being a brilliant skewering of social media and influencer culture, People Like Her is, quite simply, a damn good thriller . . . With three unreliable narrators, the novel reads like Gone Girl on steroids in all the best ways.”— Bookreporter

“Breathlessly fast, brilliantly original. Bravo, Ellery Lloyd!”—Clare Mackintosh, New York Times bestselling author of After the End

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Club, a razor-sharp, wickedly smart suspense debut about an ambitious influencer mom whose soaring success threatens her marriage, her morals, and her family’s safety.

Followed by Millions, Watched by One

To her adoring fans, Emmy Jackson, aka @the_mamabare, is the honest “Instamum” who always tells it like it is.

To her skeptical husband, a washed-up novelist who knows just how creative Emmy can be with the truth, she is a breadwinning powerhouse chillingly brilliant at monetizing the intimate details of their family life.

To one of Emmy’s dangerously obsessive followers, she’s the woman that has everything—but deserves none of it.

As Emmy’s marriage begins to crack under the strain of her growing success and her moral compass veers wildly off course, the more vulnerable she becomes to a very real danger circling ever closer to her family.

In this deeply addictive tale of psychological suspense, Ellery Lloyd raises important questions about technology, social media celebrity, and the way we live today. Probing the dark side of influencer culture and the perils of parenting online, People Like Her explores our desperate need to be seen and the lengths we’ll go to be liked by strangers. It asks what—and who—we sacrifice when make our private lives public, and ultimately lose control of who we let in. . . .

Great Book!

I finished it in two days because I had to go to bed or I would have been done in one sitting it was that good. I enjoyed the narrators.

Well Done

This book was very well done, both in the writing and the narration. It was really nice to have a book read in multiple voices instead of one narrator throwing their voice.

I really enjoyed this listen. It went faster than I realized.

Fake Instafamous

I did enjoy the fact they had 3 different voice actors working for each of the 3 main characters. Unfortunately, this book has no likeable characters. You aren't rooting for any one person. In some way the antagonist is the one you would. Mostly because the protagonist couple are so annoying, liars, and full of themselves that you cannot feel for them, or even possibly relate. The voice actors did the best they could with this dribble that a couple under the pen name of Ellery Lloyd wrote. I don't understand how 2 writers could author such a contrite and obvious story. It wasn't boring, just unnecessary, not saying anything new and about loathsome people. This is 2021 it's upsetting that these are the characters and stories that are written about....tragic.

Bit of a thriller, but good!

Great deep dive into BTS of an influencer- the good, the bad, the ugly. Love how this all pieced together and I was entertained through it all. Not the most exciting or dark thriller, but still engaging and worth the read! Great performance as well!

Boring until the end

I had to force myself to keep going for several months… I would start up and put it back down. the first 7 hours of the book is just endless back and forth boringness. This could’ve been shorter and more suspenseful if they skipped a few chapters

Book took me by surprise

Book was selected by our book club to read. It took me a little bit of time to get into but once I did, I couldn't put it down. Characters were well developed and storyline had a nice twist.

Horrible story, great voice acting

I feel incredibly underwhelmed by this book. I believe it had such amazing potential, but that fell flat. The antagonist was weak, and her actions far-fetched. It never felt deserved. Yes there are unhinged people but, this was ridiculous and unnatural. The voice acting is amazing, but that’s about it. Such a shame and waste of time.
