Story
Every Tudor Queen had ladies-in-waiting. They were her confidantes and her chaperones. Only the Queen's ladies had the right to enter her most private chambers, spending hours helping her to get dressed and undressed, caring for her clothes and jewels, listening to her secrets. But they also held a unique power. A quiet word behind the scenes, an appropriately timed gift, a well-negotiated marriage alliance were all forms of political agency wielded expertly by women.

Chapter 4
Reviewed: 02-07-25
At the end of chapter 4, the author talks about a well known event where Ann Boleyn and Henry VIII are in a play. The ladies are womanly virtues while the men are vice. The author says western racism is the reason the virtuous are in white while those portraying vice are dark. I wonder if the author has taken an English lit course, read plays, or listened to music?? Good vs bad. Light vs dark. Themes in literature and storytelling since the beginning of time. Is the author severely ignorant or a race baiter or both? Won’t buy anything written by this person again. Also, I only listened to 4 chapters, there was a few times where this got convoluted and boring.

Heroine is a perpetual idiot
Reviewed: 09-18-24
So 3 books in and I’m starting to dislike the heroine. She knows people are actively out to hurt her physically and in other ways. Yet she never locks her door. She throws the door wide open not knowing who it is. She continually goes down deserted walkways and corridors by herself. And she puts herself in dumb situations. Yet somehow she is saved right before she is raped or beaten to death. Over and over and over again……Honestly she’s so dumb she never learns. Someone says I will get you, she immediately puts herself where they can get her. No surprises or wicked and ingenious plots to get at her. Why is she the heroine again?? Someone that thick shouldn’t be the main character. It’s boring and predictable

They them and sex with beasts.

Disgusted with the beastiality and alphabet mafia. I can’t read a book these days without an anti woman pronoun bs being forced into everything. It’s absolute nonsense to have humans having sex with animal people! Do people really want to invision that? I don’t. I quit when he’s kissing a horse.

All the world's a stage...even when you're teleported to a new world. Struggling actress Cara O'Sullivan was walking down the street of Galway one moment, and the next, she was in an ancient tomb in a faraway world. Alone in the dark with her cell phone as her last tenuous connection to home, Cara sings her favorite song. To her astonishment, her song casts a spell of light into the world...and from the depths, something hears her. Challenged by a ghostly knight, a tragic necromancer, and hordes of undead, can a young woman who does not believe in heroes become one herself?

Socialist crap
Reviewed: 07-30-24
So disappointed. The main character is awful and so annoying. Then we have to listen to her complain about the unfairness of different classes. 2super long complaining monologues about the benefits of socialism. I’m so tired of woke left bs shoved down my throat daily. I don’t want it in my books. I liked the wandering inn in spite of the spoiled runner who is same as this main character. I’m done and tired with this.

Still going nowhere
Reviewed: 07-23-24
I like the characters. Problem is, nothing ever really happens. A whole book leading up to a very quick resolution. I’ve listened to all of the audiobooks. It’s all the same. A whole lot of nothing happening. I don’t know why I keep thinking that will change. This is the last one for me. I feel like these could have been awesome. There are too many characters that are fleshed out and we never hear of them again. It just leaves you hanging very unsatisfied with a whole book of nothing happening. It’s a shame because I like the characters.

Centuries before the events of A Game of Thrones, House Targaryen - the only family of dragonlords to survive the Doom of Valyria - took up residence on Dragonstone. Fire & Blood begins their tale with the legendary Aegon the Conqueror, creator of the Iron Throne, and goes on to recount the generations of Targaryens who fought to hold that iconic seat, all the way up to the civil war that nearly tore their dynasty apart.

Disappointing
Reviewed: 04-21-21
It reads as a boring re-telling of the history of the Targarians. Lists of names rattled off. I almost can’t believe this is the work of the same author. I stopped listening and am returning this title.
