Story
Compiled by intrepid journalist Neve Pride, this archive of recordings spans the months after dragons emerged on earth, chronicling the communities that sprang up amid the destruction, the scientists, military leaders, and experts searching for a defense, and those steadfastly seeking the missing. Neve and her young daughter Bex travel among the wreckage speaking to those left behind and surviving, against all odds. Neve records everything for history, and in the hopes of locating a clue as to where the dragons came from and how one might stop them.

I read 75-100+ books a year. Most are enjoyable or I just DNF them. Very few make me sad for them to end. Heartbroken to know that I will never be able to read it again for the first time. This book immerses you into the world and tells such a great story reality melts away. Fantastic

Reviewed: 08-13-24
This book surprised me, I read around 100 books a year and not often do I finish a book and think " wow, I am sad I can not read this again for the first time." It is a wild ride, that had it not been written so perfectly it could have been a mess. This author knows how to tell a complicated dark story with humor, grace and elegance. She is very talented, I was shocked that this is her debut novel. You will have a Book Hangover. It is a wild ride and dark but also funny. Her characters are clear and written so realistically that you know what part of the story your in as it goes thru time. Just buy it. Just read but be prepared you will still be thinking about it long after you have finished it.

This book surprised me from the beginning. The Chapter starts in a normal enough place survivors on a supply run. Then we go back to day 0 and see how these people survived. Loved that, to many books start a year later or more I love having the day zero story. How they overlooked what was right in front of them. I really enjoyed the zombie world the Lecter built for us and look forward to continuing this story. Worth a credit worth your time.

As a child, Linda Russell was left to raise herself in a 20-acre walled-off property in rural Washington. Nothing like reading a well written book to remind yourself of how a great book feels. The story, the prose, the characters this is so well written and enjoyable. It will keep you up at night wondering how and why just like Linda. Set in a realistic future Alexandra ties multiple time lines together with ease. I don't want to give anything away but I defiantly have a book hang over.

Who doesn’t have Gilligan’s island in your head when you read that? I wanted to love this story or at least like it but unfortunately that was not the case. The first part of the book was ok, a single guy takes a cruise. After he and basically everyone he meets on the ship get marooned on a deserted island it goes downhill fast. This story has more holes in it than I have time or desire to revisit.
Warning*****Spoilers and triggers ahead*****
All of the characters are actually very one sided. The troupe of the heart of gold stripper/ porn star falling in love with the accountant is so predictable and weak it’s boring.
This is what made me write this review, the author glosses over rape and abuse like its nothing. A female character says something to the point of a “Survivor” will get over being raped with a hot shower and a good cry. He also has a women who he foreshadows will be raped stay around her soon to be rapists when she could easily leave. If that was not enough then according to the pirates (with hearts of gold) that same women enjoys being raped. I have no idea how this part got published and it should be removed.

Story
An Atlanta ex-cop comes to Lake Sackett, Georgia, seeking peace and quiet - but he hasn’t bargained on falling for Frankie, the cutest coroner he’s ever met. Frankie McCready talks to dead people. Not like a ghost whisperer or anything - but it seems rude to embalm them and not say hello. Fortunately, at the McCready Family Funeral Home & Bait Shop, Frankie’s eccentricities fit right in. Lake Sackett’s embalmer and county coroner, Frankie’s goth styling and passion for nerd culture mean she’s not your typical Southern girl, but the McCreadys are hardly your typical Southern family.

Molly Harper does it again. What is not to love about this funny easy rom com. Just the kind of book to grab a sweet tea, sit back and enjoy. Amanda Ronconi brings the characters to live. Truthfully I was a little bit worried having a main character Frankie McCready working in a funeral home but Molly Harper did it and she made it laugh out loud good. This is a fun read and worth the credit.

I did not like Zoo for much of this book because as a reader I knew more about her world than she did. She made choices that I wanted to scream at her about. That's what this book is about doing the best you can with the information you have. The better the information you have the better you can react.
It did drag a little in the middle and I felt the ending was a little to quick for me. I wanted to know more at the ending. I am glad I got to see Zoo realize her mistakes and try to come to terms with them. It made me like her more.
I loved the inside look at reality TV how things are edited to show the producers plan and not actual reality.

Weight is not a number on a scale but what you hold inside you. Until you learn how to accept it no one else can either. This book is a coming of age story of a young women who thought she was strong until she faced a true test.
Dumplin is a heartwarming story about beautiful strong characters and what they are made up on the inside. It breaks stereo types and shows you never know someone until you walk in their shoes.
This book is not just about the main character its also about all the people around her how much a positive influence can help someone else. Its a story about a young women who is willing to give up some of her social currency to help another.
