As someone who thought they understood skincare well, I learned a TON from this book! White combines personal narrative with thorough research to keep the information relatable and digestible. This book is careful when providing tips, understanding that each person’s skin requires something different. White also discusses the marketing of skincare and the different ingredients we see in over the counter products, which was particularly interesting.

Meadows sums up their book best when they say this book is “written by someone who has been where you are”. The teens who pick up this book want to hear tips from a person who felt the way they are feeling, and Meadows delivers. The incorporation of social media and its influence caters to the teens of today, rather than the teens of the past. This is a stamp of validation that anxiety, including social anxiety, is normal and can be overcome.

This book has it all. Swettenham includes what foods should be incorporated into your diet, what foods to take away, and sharing the external factors (marketing, government) that influence our nutrition. The inclusion of habits that aren't exclusive to the food we are consuming (stress management, physical changes as we age), allow the reader to not entirely blame themselves for their bodies and provide motivation for making positive changes.

Collins aims to give their readers “a makeover from the inside out” in Love Yourself Deeply. This book doesn’t shy away from exposing the evils that women believe about themselves. The reader is then provided practical strategies to move closer towards self-love as well of examples to help the reader get started on this journey.

How to Make Friends Easily validates the loneliness that many women feel when obligations such as family and work take priority over maintaining friendships. Collins persuades their readers that there are several physical and emotional benefits to nourishing friendships, despite the barriers women create for themselves.

This bind up makes complete sense as both intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships in women’s lives are explored

Parenting Teens breaks up the experience of parenting boys and girls, emphasizing the differences of each experience. The most important takeaways, however, are universal for all parents with their children and teens. Although the specific tips themselves are helpful, it is even more important for parents to remember that compassion, kindness, and demonstrating unconditional love for their children is essential. The author does a great job of continuously validating that parenting is a challenge, but that love is at the forefront in the family dynamic and experience.
