The first two books of this series felt pulled out - but book three was wonderful overall if a bit abrupt in the conclusion. Worth a read.

Story
The world of magick and the world of man have long been estranged from one another. But some can walk between the two—including Breen Siobhan Kelly. She has just returned to Talamh, with her friend, Marco, who’s dazzled and disoriented by this realm—a place filled with dragons and faeries and mermaids (but no WiFi, to his chagrin). In Talamh, Breen is not the ordinary young schoolteacher he knew her as. Here she is learning to embrace the powers of her true identity. Marco is welcomed kindly by her people—and by Keegan, leader of the Fey.

Missing the mark
Reviewed: 05-28-23
So far books one and two of this series reads like they were intended to be a single book that has been expanded to justify a trilogy. I want it to be engaging - and the basics of the story certainly should be for me - but it’s just not working. It’s more Nora Robert’s does a Hallmark special in a magical land.

Enjoyable
Reviewed: 07-04-22
This is a solid Nora Robert’s fantasy/horror/romance series, and book one is very much an introduction and laying the ground work. It’s not one of her more complex works which is why it gets 4 stars.
Trigger warning - There is a rape that is pretty graphic and part of the major story line.

Super tech integrates with interesting story
Reviewed: 11-17-20
I got this on one of my more random days and if I’m honest I’m not sure I would have had I known the sheer amount of weapons and tech explanation that was going to be large portions of the story.
It all does have a point!
Once those things start to be revealed - oh, it’s good. Complex and interesting.
Sci-fi weapons master reader - this is certainly for you. Girl who enjoys fantasy and a bit of sci-fi - I liked after a few struggling technical bits. Romance readers need not apply.

Quirky as expected
Reviewed: 10-04-20
I enjoy quirky comedies, and this was certainly entertaining. I gave it 4 stars because there are major plot points that even in a quirky story were outside of the protagonist’s personality that seemed very jarring.
And slight spoiler - if you are in a public space when you get to the hotel scene, ya might skip or pause. 😯😂

Story
Kristen Petersen doesn't do drama, will fight to the death for her friends, and has no room in her life for guys who just don't get her. She's also keeping a big secret: facing a medically necessary procedure that will make it impossible for her to have children. Planning her best friend's wedding is bittersweet for Kristen - especially when she meets the best man, Josh Copeland. He's funny, sexy, never offended by her mile-wide streak of sarcasm, and always one chicken enchilada ahead of her hangry. Even her dog, Stuntman Mike, adores him. The only catch: Josh wants a big family.

Endearing and maybe a bit annoying
Reviewed: 06-22-20
Once the book was fully underway, it was interesting in plot twists and mildly annoying in repetitive psychological hang ups (both valid and aggravating). If you have fertility issues, this might not be for you, but obviously the author did their research.
The narrators were awesome and brought the quirks of each personality to life.
Will listen again down the road and purchase other novels from this author.

PTSD post apocalyptic story
Reviewed: 06-15-20
First, Dakota Fanning did a wonderful job - made easier to follow by a few sound effects and other voice actors for things like news reports etc.
This alternative history is not happy and full of hope - it’s in a dark place of after and not having dealt with the issues that would naturally come up. It’s complex and moves at a steady pace, jumping from memory to reports to present right through the very end.
I will be reading it again - just not if I’m looking for a chipper break from reality.

Story
Tory Bodeen grew up in a run-down house where her father ruled with an iron fist and a leather belt - and where her dreams and talents had no room to flourish. Her one escape was her neighbor Hope, who lived in the big house just a short skip away, and whose friendship allowed Tory to be something she wasn’t allowed to be at home: a child. Then Hope was brutally murdered, and everything fell apart.

Loved this book for years but...
Reviewed: 06-10-20
I’ve read this book many many times. I just enjoy the progression and story so much! Was excited to see it on audible
But this narrator! I’m assuming this was a combination of the time in which it was recorded and not expecting more than 3 actual voices from a narrator and the director shaving seconds off here and there because there are no pauses between a lot of sentences which makes no sense. Faith was the only unique voice. Everyone else sounded much like everyone else.
So book = yay!
Audiobook = tolerable but not so much that I want to listen again. I will read it and enjoy my voices.

I’m a fan of both the authors and the narrator so what’s not to enjoy in this book? I enjoy the characters themselves but Renee Raudman adds life and emphasizes those quirks in personality that bring humor and humanity to good characters.
I’ve had it for 5 months and listened to the book twice.

Fun and a bit rambling
Reviewed: 05-18-20
Enjoyable and quirky - the end was down right confusing until I realized we were going through everyone’s point of view and not a straight timeline. Lots of side track ramblings which can be fun but was not prepared for and got lost a couple of times. Over all well worth a listen
