Story
More than 20,000 American Indians served in the Civil War, yet their stories have often been left out of the history books. In Deadly Aim, Sally M. Walker explores the extraordinary lives of Michigan’s Anishinaabe sharpshooters. These brave soldiers served with honor and heroism in the line of duty, despite enduring broken treaties, loss of tribal lands, and racism.

What a tough group of individuals. They don’t make them like that anymore.

On a personal note- I Loved hearing about DeLands, as I am a descendant of James DeLand. They definitely passed this love of shooting and accuracy to my dad.

Story
Thirteen-year-old orphan Alice Ringwald has no memory beyond six months ago. The only life she knows is the new one she's creating one day at a time with the loving couple that recently adopted her and gave her new hope. That hope, however, is shattered one night when she is abducted by a strange man. In a frantic FBI man hunt, the kidnapper vanished with Alice. So begins Water Walker, a modern-day parable that examines the staggering power of forgiveness, and reminds us that it's possible to live free of the hurt that keeps our souls in chains.

Narration

The narrator did a good job reading smoothly and professionally, but she needs to work on saying the quotes like how a real person would say them and not in a weird cadence continuously. The cadence and inflection used would have been great as 1 of the characters. However, I thought that Katherine’s voice was conveyed well.

I don’t think a lot of people will identify with the reader and her trial of not being able to go on an African trip, because that is a rich persons problem. Most people face trials of more substance than this.

Story
Eve looks like an ordinary 12-year-old girl, but there’s nothing ordinary about her. She has no last name. No parents or guardian. She’s on the run from a dangerous and secretive organization that will stop at nothing to track her down. And most astonishing of all: she’s a robot, a product of Eden Laboratories. When Eve discovers the truth, she realizes everything she thought she knew about herself is a lie. Eve manages to escape, fleeing the lab, the only home she’s ever known.

Very engaging

I liked everything about it. It was humorous and thought provoking at the same time. Loved the plot twists. I can see mature Jr. Highers through adults liking this. A little too heavy for elementary.
