Story
Laurie Notaro has proved everyone wrong: she didn’t end up in rehab, prison, or cremated at a tender age. She just went gray. At past fifty, every hair’s root is a symbol of knowledge (she knows how to use a landline), experience (she rode in a car with no seat belts), and superpowers (a gray-haired lady can get away with anything). Though navigating midlife is initially upsetting—the cracking noises coming from her new old body, receiving regular junk mail from mortuaries—Laurie accepts it. And then some.

Story
In Reconnecting to the Source he unpacks the science behind spiritual experience, investigating the ways in which we can access realms of experience beyond the everyday. It is in these moments, when our conscious minds are in contact or perhaps even overridden by our unconscious selves, that we can explore the depths of spiritual meaning. In addition to a foreword by Deepak Chopra, the book includes new, never before published contributions from a long list of well-known writers and public figures.

Perhaps I expected too much from this book. It was choppy, with barely a thread holding the "relationship" of other people's stories to each other and of reconnecting with the source. Not particularly amusing to hear about ducks and geese and the sense of humor brought forth by The Source. I'd like a refund and I can't recommend this book.

Story
The Candy House opens with the staggeringly brilliant Bix Bouton, whose company, Mandala, is so successful that he is “one of those tech demi-gods with whom we’re all on a first name basis.” Bix is forty, with four kids, restless, and desperate for a new idea, when he stumbles into a conversation group, mostly Columbia professors, one of whom is experimenting with downloading or “externalizing” memory. Within a decade, Bix’s new technology, “Own Your Unconscious”—which allows you access to every memory you’ve ever had, and to share your memories in exchange for access to the memories of others—has seduced multitudes.

I wasn't expecting much when I bought this. But the hour and change I spent listening to James made me realize the depth of not just his talent but his self awareness as a human being. All of the hardship he grew up with was used in the songwriting and it made me love his work even more than I previously did

November 1958, New York. Into the rarefied atmosphere of wealth and tradition at the National Horse Show in Madison Square Garden comes the most unlikely of horses—a drab white former plow horse named Snowman—and his rider, Harry de Leyer. They were the longest of all longshots—and their win was the stuff of legend.

A Horse to Win Your Heart
Reviewed: 01-26-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
As a horse lover this story really captured me. Loved that the trainer was so kind to his horse(s). The fact that this horse was about to be dogfood and became so much more
made for a wonderful story. The horse was saved, he saved his owner in the process.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Eighty-Dollar Champion?
The fact that the horse was enroute to the glue factory and was pulled off at the last second.
What aspect of Bronson Pinchot’s performance would you have changed?
Nothing. Liked his Dutch accent.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
This Jumper has Heart.
