I was mistaken when I bought this book series as I thought it was written for adults. This a series for young teens. I find the story line just ok and drags at points during the story.

Story
The hardscrabble folks of Troublesome Creek have to scrap for everything - everything except books, that is. Thanks to Roosevelt's Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project, Troublesome's got its very own traveling librarian, Cussy Mary Carter. Cussy's not only a book woman, however, she's also the last of her kind, her skin a shade of blue unlike most anyone else. Not everyone is keen on Cussy's family or the Library Project, and a Blue is often blamed for any whiff of trouble.

I so enjoyed this book and the main character “book woman” as some folks called her. The characters are written in a way that I looked forward in each chapter to as the writer provided more about them and their hard life in Eastern Kentucky. Wonderful book that I will be checking to see what other books were written by this author. Narrator Katie Schorr did a outstanding job.

This is over priced for such a short story. I also felt this story was more for the young teen age group readers. I do not plan to be reading any of the other books in this series.

I enjoyed the book but was a bit disappointed by Todd McLaren’s narrative performance. His narrative of the different male characters was very good but when it came to the female characters his narrative of female voices was distracting from the story, at least for myself.

I have always enjoyed reading a James Patterson books. Very good writing between Patterson and Michael Ledwidge. I really liked this first story about the character Michael Bennett, his family and his grandfather. Story plot was interesting and I liked that the book didn’t leave you hanging were you had to buy the next book in the series. I do plan to read the other books in the Michael Bennett series. What made this audible book standout was the use of two narrators to tell this story. Narrators John Slater and Reg Rogers made this a outstanding book to listen too.

The Elven a long long story
Reviewed: 08-04-18
I heard this story through Audible and at times realized it was a mistake as there were too many names that were so similar that it made the story hard to follow at times. Too many battles that seem to drag out. I have the second book in this series but will not bother to read since I didn’t care for the first book that much.
