Story
Eizo is a middle-aged, overworked software engineer who loves cats. One night after working late, he saves an injured cat from a speeding truck. The cat survives, but Eizo does not... Luckily, that cat turns out to be a god-like being who offers him a second chance in another world! Eizo decides that he wants a slower life, one where he can live off the things he creates with his own hands. So, why not become a blacksmith? He does have one other stipulation: a cat companion for his quiet life.

This is Bad

I write this to save you the mistake I made. The, cover, tile, and synopsis say Isekai Harem. The plot is the most bland PG day to day events. The main "love interest" is the most kids show "I don't like him". The 2nd female on the cover is just the apprentice. There is no conflict, there is no intrigue, there is just the day to day life of a blacksmith on easy mode.

An adult story wrapped in a child facade
Reviewed: 03-19-17
This book is good. Let me say that first before I start.
The story is the both in-depth and captivating. With all the time travel and overlapping story lines it really messes with you and causes you to think about what's happeing next and when thell intersect again.
BUT!
This book is clearly written for teenage girls. There are tons of pop culture referances and the way she talks about relationships is very tweeny.
If you can handle the way the story is told I do advise readying it. It will keep you intrigued to the last word.

Story
Gwyneth Shepherd's sophisticated, beautiful cousin Charlotte has been prepared her entire life for traveling through time. But unexpectedly, it is Gwyneth who, in the middle of class, takes a sudden spin to a different era! Gwyneth must now unearth the mystery of why her mother would lie about her birth date to ward off suspicion about her ability, brush up on her history, and work with Gideon, the time traveler from a similarly gifted family that passes the gene through its male line, and whose presence becomes, in time, less insufferable and more essential.

Really made me stop and think.
Reviewed: 03-02-17
With time travel it's hard to make the timeline for a story make sense and be intriguing. This book balances it so well. I gives you glimpses of what's to come with conversations in the present about people from the future who visited the past. Though it feels a little childish the story was still compelling enough to buy the next book.

The Shima Imperium verges on the brink of environmental collapse; an island nation once rich in tradition and myth, now decimated by clockwork industrialization and the machine-worshipers of the Lotus Guild. The skies are red as blood, the land is choked with toxic pollution, and the great spirit animals that once roamed its wilds have departed forever.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Anyone else could have read this book and this would have been average, but Jennifer Ikeda is the worst. The action is boring, the voices are terrible and she OVERPRONOUCES every japanese word. I can visable see the words bolded when she talks. Not to mention the story is bland predictable and just straight crap. Please read anything else. Im trying to save you.

NO ITS COOL BY ALL MEANS GIVE THE VILLIAN FEELINGS
Reviewed: 02-22-17
Another great book in this now to be 4 part series. but first half of the book is fine. lots of set up and stuff, but half way through the book the author throws a curve ball and in the course of two chapters gives the villains feelings. What the duck author! Don't give me a moral dillema. if there a villain I want them dead. not for them to be human and to have a life and ambitions. Fucking Jesus! Now I gotta sit here and mull over if they deserve to die and all that.
If you can't tell I loved the book and it's emotional thrills.

Diet Wheel of Time
Reviewed: 02-08-17
This book is OK... it feels like the wheel of time with its story in one book, but over arching stories spanning multiple books, but besides that it's just meh. Everything is just average. For most of the book you just feel like your watching his life. It's not till the last 10th where it comes together and leaves you with a cliff hanger wanting more. my advice is if you got no other books rad this, but if you need a GOOD READ read anything else.

Started strong... then became common
Reviewed: 01-23-17
The book started beautifully. Like a fine wine or a beatifly woven tapastry, the quickly slid into a run of the mill young adult book.
Now I'm not saying it's bad, just when your tasted what it could have been everything else is just disappointing.
When the second comes out I'll be sure to pick it up, but if it countinues being common I won't be finishing the tale.

I would have paid to be told not to read this
Reviewed: 12-29-16
Oh my god this book is terrible. 1st let me just say the cogney British accent is hard to listen to for any amount of time, but I could ignore that cause I could jus read the hard copy. Well I could read it, if this book wasn't the most terribly written snore fest. The characters are predictable, the plot is predictable, this twist is predictable and the romance is dry. I paid $5 for this audio book and I would have paid twice that to be told to not read this book. Save yourself the 7 hours and just do your taxes.
Edit: There's more in this series!? Who thought it was a good idea to make more?
