Lectures and corny jokes

I enjoy listening to my books again and again, but this series has devolved into lectures about things that don't matter to the story, and jokes that seem intended to convince the reader that the author is very clever. The mind-to-mind puns with the dog are tiresome and distract from the action. I can't always tell which character is speaking. I regret this purchase.

Thank you, Mr Miller for writing an exciting and rich dragon series. The thrills and heartaches were balanced, and the battles were well fought. I appreciate that people (male and female) held positions of importance without any sexual assault. I look forward to reading more of your work!

This story just drags along repeating the same phrases and concepts. This is pack, we're pack, I can feel the pack, and I, Oz, am slow and stupid. I think the whiny voice used for Joe was appropriate when he was ten, but by the time he's 17 it's just grating. There is a sense of loss and doom that prevails; we're even warned far ahead of time that this is no HEA. I can't see why anyone would read more in this series.

This was long. slow, and low angst. I was sorta fine with it until the very last when a misunderstanding caused it to all blow up in an obvious move for book 2. The person that stormed out wasn't even the one that had come to the most harm. I don't even care about the MCs to go on much less hearing it again. Pointless.

Brutal read - underage rape

Don't waste your credit. The relationship is built on misunderstandings and brutality. Too many flashbacks of one of the men being raped, starved, and brutalized as a young child. The current adult relationship is characterized by constant misunderstandings, hitting emotionally where it hurts the most, and anger that resulted in "consensual rape" with anal tearing. This should have come with a warning label.

I struggled to finish this story. The theme is cheating is bad. It's yelled. Angst galore about cheating. The lack of professionalism and focus of both MC was infuriating considering they should have been finding a 5 month old. This would have been a semi cute story (perhaps) if the stakes were not so high.

Update: Narration was good but his volume was unpredictable which required adjustment. A little annoying. The final quarter of the book was better and I'm glad I finished. One part I really enjoyed was the slow burn and that the sex did not come across as a how-to manual.

Narrator was fantastic as always. Thanks Mr James!

The story was really good and I enjoy the series. There is a nice blend of shorter story lines along with the overarching threat. This series is one of my go-to for when I need a story for multiple days.

The only small critique I might offer the author is that not everyone Miro meets should be "stunning" and "easily one of the most handsome men/beautiful women I've ever met. " Although I'm sure characters from other stories are being introduced, people have more to offer than their looks. It was constant and noticeable. All in all, though, thank you for a wonderful series!

Although it's nice to read a story with more mature characters, some of the humor is lost in translation. I still loved it.

Spoiler - I thought Zane was portrayed wildly out of character. Rape ALWAYS deserves a warning. I love the rest of the series, but I'll never listen to this one again. I'm in my 4th run through of the series but even knowing this is coming doesn't lessen the betrayal.

I loved the narrator. the pacing of the story. and the series. I'd have given it 5 stars, but the author was inconsistent with a protection detail. I mean, if you have police officers outside your house to keep you safe, WHY would you decide to go out alone to do some light shopping? Why leave the police watching an empty house?? We're to believe this is a choice a US Marshall would make; someone whose job involves knowing how protective custody works. Although the author has done a better job in this book than earlier ones, she still has her characters making unsafe. unbelievable choices at times.
