Story
Mariana Andros is a brilliant but troubled group therapist who becomes fixated on The Maidens when one member, a friend of Mariana’s niece Zoe, is found murdered in Cambridge. Mariana, who was once herself a student at the university, quickly suspects that behind the idyllic beauty of the spires and turrets, and beneath the ancient traditions, lies something sinister. And she becomes convinced that, despite his alibi, Edward Fosca is guilty of the murder. But why would the professor target one of his students?

Overall Disappointed
Reviewed: 07-23-21
I loved Michaelides’ first book (the Silent Patient), so I was looking forward to this one. The ending was kind of interesting, but the build up was drawn out. Also, some of the events that carry the plot seemed unlikely to actually happen.

Story
Amber Patterson is fed up. She's tired of being a nobody: a plain, invisible woman who blends into the background. She deserves more - a life of money and power like the one blond-haired, blue-eyed goddess Daphne Parrish takes for granted. To everyone in the exclusive town of Bishops Harbor, Connecticut, Daphne - a socialite and philanthropist - and her real-estate mogul husband, Jackson, are a couple straight out of a fairy tale. Amber's envy could eat her alive...if she didn't have a plan.

Surface-Level Story That I Was Happy to Finish
Reviewed: 10-19-18
I usually love this two-perspective style of storytelling, but the Last Mrs. Parrish was not as well done as other similar books. The plot of this book was not deep nor well thought out. The characters had no obstacles or challenges that they had to overcome. Instead, all of the character's plans perfectly fell into place. I felt frustrated with how unbelievable the story transpired. Also, the big twist became obvious about 30% through the book.
If you're searching for an engrossing book with a deep plot, characters that develop, and surprising twists, look elsewhere.

Story
Cass is having a hard time since the night she saw the car in the woods, on the winding rural road, in the middle of a downpour, with the woman sitting inside - the woman who was killed. She's been trying to put the crime out of her mind; what could she have done, really? It's a dangerous road to be on in the middle of a storm. Her husband would be furious if he knew she'd broken her promise not to take that shortcut home. And she probably would only have been hurt herself if she'd stopped.

Not as good as Behind Closed Doors
Reviewed: 12-12-17
I really enjoyed Behind Closed Doors, and I was looking forward to another book by B.A. Paris. But this book was not nearly as good. The protagonist was incredibly nieve, and the story took forever to develop. 6 hours of waiting for the twist was much too long. By that point, it seemed clear how the book would end. All of the clues were pretty obvious.
The narrator did a fine job, though.

The ending got me.
Reviewed: 11-28-17
My ratings are primarily based on the book's ending. Leading up to it, the story kept me sort of intrigued but I was listening out of obligation since I didn't want to waste the purchase. The story seemed silly until the end when I got caught off guard. I'm happy that I kept going. The narrator also does a great job. I'd recommend this story.

Overall, this book was unimpressive. This review uses general terms to make sure not to spoil the story. The characters disappointed me most. Few of the characters developed throughout the story to a level beyond reacting to their basic emotions. None of the characters developed an interesting personality. Also, some of the events flowed very unrealistically. There were multiple instances that didn't seem like a realistic way for the characters to feel or seem like a realistic way events would unfold. Lastly, the ending was predictable, I guessed it by the middle of the book. Admittedly, it was one of multiple guesses that I had.
As for positive parts, the best part of the story was the performance by the male narrator. He did a great job representing the character as sinister but also relatable.

What made the experience of listening to Hidden Bodies the most enjoyable?
The narrator in this book is incredible; he really makes you feel like you're actually inside the mind of Joe Goldberg. Surprisingly, I liked this book was better than 'You'. If you like 'You,' then you will undoubtedly enjoy this book. If you haven't read/listened to You, then do not get this; You have to listen to 'You' before this book.

Story
In the first book of this brilliant series, Stephen King introduces listeners to one of his most powerful creations: Roland of Gilead, The Last Gunslinger. He is a haunting figure, a loner on a spellbinding journey into good and evil. In his desolate world, which frighteningly mirrors our own, Roland tracks The Man in Black, encounters an enticing woman named Alice, and begins a friendship with the boy from New York named Jake.
