But the end of the end of the end got tough after awhile of the last and last or perhaps last Alamo. Sad seeing some of our stars go down, but alas they sacrifices so humanity would survive. Going to miss the crew after 14 novels.

The Merry Band of Pirates stopped the enemy from stealing a Sentinel, and destroyed its Elder starship, so why weren’t the Pirates planning a victory party? The enemy was not what they thought it was. It was much, much worse.

A long book setting up for meh!
Reviewed: 11-20-24
I was excited for a new book in the series, but had a hard time getting through this one. A lot of side stories and meaningless pages that did not really seem like it added to the plot. Nerf being followed by a reporter, for example; Expeditionary force guys busy in an OP that was not important so they were available for the ground assault in the last chapter but took chapters to tell that….Another dooms day end for the Merry Band of Pirates, will they survive and continue to stop the outsider? Hmm, maybe the outsider, which hasn’t even been approached to see what it wants, will in a twist save everyone? Smaybe?

Story
The Bobiverse is a different place in the aftermath of the Starfleet War, and the days of the Bobs gathering in one big happy moot are far behind. There’s anti-Bob sentiment on multiple planets, the Skippies playing with an AI time bomb, and multiple Bobs just wanting to get away from it all. But it all pales compared to what Icarus and Daedalus discover on their 26,000-year journey to the center of the galaxy.

A new big problem, but, the science of everything keeps it so interesting. This is a nice reboot of the series. Ready for the next, and hopefully more.
