Good Story
Reviewed: 07-24-18
In the second installment Josie heads to the Mongol Empire. The author does a great job establishing the scene and uses great historical references to teach the reader things about this culture that are not always taught in regular school. Josie becomes Moon Goddess in this installment being protected by Batu a mongol warrior. She vows not to become emotionally connected like she did on her last adventure but we as readers know how the best laid plans get mucked up. The writer has great detail but one thing as a reader that I felt was amiss was that Josie is from our time, referencing the culture we live in (star wars, Doctor Who, etc) yet she uses language and words that are atypical of our time. The author used "once again" way too often in this story from Josie's mouth and inner dialogue that I found myself wanting to bang my head on the counter. All in all I give this a four but it would have been a 5 and near perfect without the constant "once agains."

high five
Reviewed: 08-31-17
The one thing I can always count on from Lizzy Ford is a story with twists and turns and unpredictability. We are first introduced to Josie in present day. Barely a woman by age but independent due to what life has dealt her. She ends up in a time where what she believes her goal to achieve is quickly dissapates into realization that it was a stream of lies that put her here. While going back in time has given her things she has missed all her life, danger quickly hits the horizon in ways she is not expecting.
I loved so much about this book, the narration and the characters. I was disappointed with the ending because I wanted something different for Josie but I am very interested to see what is next for her in the next step in the series. High five rating!!!

He's silent - but his touch speaks louder than words. At first sight, Savannah is drawn to the harsh appeal of a man who refuses to talk to her. Keenan's hard stare is arrogant and unapologetic. The quirk of his sensuous lips is cocky and in control.

silent seduction
Reviewed: 06-12-17
Savannah is sent back to her old stomping grounds to resolve tension between her employer and a rival hotel that is buying out his hotel. This brings her back into the fold of her family and face to face with her arch enemy and cousin. She must try to convince her cousin to end the tension for a smooth transition. A family dinner turns into a chance meeting with a debonair, but silent man.
Silence can happen for so many reasons, trauma is almost always the root. But when you are a man silence is just not what people want from you. It impacts every part of your life and silence is hard. Rarely can one sit in silence.
This book ends in a HEA, but there is a lot of roller coaster along the way. I am very particular about the narrators in books and I was not fond of this one at all. She often sounded petulant, whiney and bitchy. She was meant to create a girl who was self conscious, low self esteem but made her sound like a spoiled brat. She had very few changes in tone for various characters, leaving all the men to sound the same. I was almost glad for the silence of our leading man because I did not have to be more confused. That being said the book was also more wordy than I would like. I am giving this a 3.

He's forced to spend time with Katya Khavalov, the sister of one of the Marines killed during a firefight under his command. just okay for me
Reviewed: 12-20-16
Katya is young, headstrong and angry. Angry that the war has taken one of her brothers. Angry that the one man who was in charge of keeping him safe, failed to bring him home.
Sawyer is that man, angry with himself for not keeping his squad safe. Frustrated that this family that all should hate him has welcomed him into the family, well with the exception of Katya.
I have always been a die hard Lizzy Ford fan but I am struggling to love this contemporary story. I am not sure if it was the narrator in the audio that just left me wanting to choke the breath out of Katya or punch her in the throat every time she threw a jab at Sawyer. You could tell from the very beginning of the story that Sawyer was genuine and that he harbored a ton of guilt. The book gives you your HEA but this one was just okay for me.

Predictable

Jax is all jock turned into sexy detective. He lost his love before it could really take flight. He has struggled holding Laney on a pedestal for years.
Laney is the quiet little wallflower Who has been asked to help Jack's stay on the field. She hides who she is from everyone so that she isn't hurt anymore. She's forced to go even further into hiding due to circumstances beyond her control.
These two love birds are thrown back into each other's lives at a time when they need each other the most. Obstacle after obstacle They find their way through in order to see if the love they feel is everlasting.
This is a great HEA that is great for anyone who truly loves a mild romance story. There was a lot of predictability and for that I leave this one with three hearts. The narrator Did a great job on the characters and the reading.

Story
As the daughter of Senator and presidential hopeful Jentsen Holbrook, I spent a good deal of my life under public scrutiny. What I wore. Where I went. Who I dated. It was just the way of things. I'd become what was expected of me, until I ran from my obligations and woke up one morning in Cross de Raven's and Eryk Hale's world, two hot guitarists from the mega-famous metal band, Cinder. For the first time, freedom to be myself was within my reach. And along with that? Inevitable scandal.

Chaos
Reviewed: 11-03-16
I am going to begin this review by first talking about the story. The story had high points, low points, and everything in between. There were times that I really enjoyed the erotic storyline and other times I was left shaking my head thinking "no way." I think there were a lot of times that this book was predictable and that drew from the suspense and angst of the story.
Now lets move into narration. I had a difficult time initially with the rapid talking that Ruby delivered. It was like it was a race. Once I was able to move past that, I was frustrated from beginning to end with her incessant breathy tone even when she was not speaking in character. It was highly distracting for her to narrate the whole thing in a sex operator voice. I had a very hard time listening for long periods because of this. Then it also became distracting having a male jumping in at random spots in the narration too.
I think I would have much rather read this in digital copy. I think that narration ruined the story for me. Three hearts from Romance Authors That Rock.

good ya book

Sarah Beard has written a great young adult romance here. She takes you through the various elements of loss and how that can impact the mind and soul. There were times that the book was predictable but mostly I could not put this story down. I am not big on YA anymore and this one was able to hold my attention, wondering where the story would go and how these two young people could get an HEA when one is dead and the other is very much in the breathing world.
The narrator did a good job of giving each character personality and kept my attention without a lot of the annoyances I often get with audio books.

Story
Having Doc McNab as competition, being 10 years Sutton's senior, and under her employ, meant the deck was stacked against Flint Palmer when it came to winning the sexy, vivacious Sutton as his woman. No way would she be interested in an old, worn-out, ex-rodeo cowboy like him, but that wasn't going to stop the man from trying. With the exception of the pretty-as-a-picture Sutton Callaway, Kale McNab's childhood sucked. He'd been jerked up more so than raised by his ex-convict of a father.

killer cliffhanger
Reviewed: 09-05-16
I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. What do you get when you have a beautiful rancher, a sexy cowboy ranch foreman and a rough around the edges vet...a hot mess of the heart.
There is true trouble at the ranch in more ways than one. Between all the chaos, it is a wonder how anyone has time for romance..but there it is sneaking its way into the story. I personally am fond of the ranch forman...but since the author left a doozie of a cliff-hanger I am not sure what the HEA is going to be.
The narrator did well but often was over sultry when it was not necessary. Each character had their own personality which was a bit difficult with all the men in this book.
Hurry up and get me the next one so I can find out what happens next.

I had the opportunity to read both the paperback and now the audio. The one thing I can say about Kym is that she can always keep me attached to a book and the characters within. I loved this book in paperback but Ryan West takes it to a whole other level. He manages to bring out the characters through his voice to give each of them such a unique personality. Ryan made me fall in love with Jake in this book with his smart ass tones and southern charm. Aside from all that, there is an amazing back story with mystery, suspense and hot, hot, hot sex. I love listening to Ryan in those scenes. Yummy!

Five years ago we lived in the same house. He was the ultimate bad boy. And my foster brother. Now he's back. Tougher, harder, meaner. All of it aimed at me, because I was the one who sent him away. It's payback time. He wants his pound of flesh, and I am helpless to say no.

holy darkness
Reviewed: 01-27-16
This is my first read by Skye. Lola (Hannah) has scars, deep scars. Growing up she felt loss, betrayal and went through things kids should never have to. She ends up in the foster care system fighting to survive. Survive in the homes, survive on the streets, survive in the system. She learns really fast that she has "skills" that she can use to survive. Then she meets the rough and tough foster brother who comes with a pretty frightening reputation. Bleu and Hannah are like kismet souls who were linked before they even knew each other existed. Then the unthinkable happens and Hannah does what she has to in order to survive.
We make it to present day and Lola has given up on ever regaining any part of Hannah again. She is officially broken, still fighting to survive the only way she knows how. She never thought she would ever see Bleu again and she now is forced to face some of the demons in her past. Wow, what a dark but amazing read. I love the way this author gave each person in this story such personality. The reality of this story makes you think that this author lived this herself. This story teaches the reader that even the most broken people can be healed in a way that is completely unexpected. I had the pleasure of the audio version of this book and I highly recommend it because the narrator is awesome! She adds so much greatness to the words that Skye has written. I love this story.
