Story
Awe is mysterious. How do we begin to quantify the goose bumps we feel when we see the Grand Canyon, or the utter amazement when we watch a child walk for the first time? How do you put into words the collective effervescence of standing in a crowd and singing in unison, or the wonder you feel while gazing at centuries-old works of art? In Awe, Dacher Keltner presents a radical investigation and deeply personal inquiry into this elusive emotion.

Story
In How the World Sees You, author and personal branding expert Sally Hogshead applies the principles of fascination triggers to understanding "personality brands"—how individuals use different triggers to influence, persuade, and captivate others. You already know how you see yourself and the world. But how does the world see you? If you want to be heard and remembered, if you want people to take action on your ideas and opinions, then you need to get the full picture.

Not conducive to a recorded book
Reviewed: 07-16-15
What would have made How the World Sees You better?
This book calls for the listener to complete various exercises. I don't think this fits the needs of most Audible users. I listen during my commute and became frustrated when i could not take part in the exercises.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Something by Jim Collins most likely.
What aspect of Sally Hogshead and Erik Bergmann ’s performance would you have changed?
Hogshead sounds like she's leading a Marketing Team Seminar which she kind of is.
What character would you cut from How the World Sees You?
Me:(
Any additional comments?
Most recently I'm struggling through something called "How the World Sees You". I say struggling because it strikes me as kind of gimmicky. The Author, Sally Hogshead has something to sell. She's come up with a "Myers Briggs Type Indicator" on steroids. You take a test and are assigned an "Archetype" from this you're supposed to interpret your strengths and weaknesses and how you are perceived by others. Hogshead uses "Fascinate" as a buzzword. This book has failed to fascinate me.
"How the World Sees You" is not conducive to a recorded book. I'm not actually sure it's conducive to a written book either. If you were putting together a Team Building Workshop or other Organizational type activity there may be some value in this book. I may have felt different if I had sat down with the book and been able to go through all of the exercises in real time but to try to catch up after listening on the road, just not practical.

Story
Why do only a few people get to say "I love my job?" It seems unfair that finding fulfillment at work is like winning a lottery; that only a few lucky ones get to feel valued by their organizations, to feel like they belong. Imagine a world where almost everyone wakes up inspired to go to work, feels trusted and valued during the day, then returns home feeling fulfilled. This is not a crazy, idealized notion. Today, in many successful organizations, great leaders are creating environments in which people naturally work together to do remarkable things.

Intersting Perspective on Leadership
Reviewed: 05-19-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I highly recommend this book to anyone that wants to increase the breadth of their understanding of what makes a leader and what makes people follow him.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Given that this is a non-fiction book it's really hard to identify "characters". Perhaps the best assessment I can make with regards to character is the ever present reference towards Marines. It's no surprise that I answer Marines to a question that contains hte word "character".
What does Simon Sinek bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The narration could be better but I think Sinek narrates with an level of conviction that a professional would have a difficult time managing.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
My reaction was one of surprise. While there are plenty of "how to" books on leadership few focus on the "why".
Any additional comments?
I'd suggest reading this book after you understand the basics of leadership.
