Story
After facing war, death, unruly gods, and unmitigated evil, Minalan the Spellmonger is forced to return to Farise, the site of his earliest battles, with the simple assignment to conquer the subtropical city-state and expel the pirates that plague the kingdom’s shipping. Tired of warfare, Minalan embarks on a clandestine campaign to do so, assuming an alias and setting up shop in Farise as a mere Practical Adept as cover for his operation. Recruiting a cadre of talented agents to assist, he reluctantly begins the task of infiltrating and observing Farisian society.

I would place this in the top 5 books in the series. No spoilers in my review but Terry Mancour still manages to put in many moments of unrealized foreshadowing that sometimes take many volumes to be realized! My hat is off to the him! I am eagerly looking forward to the next volume.

The first book was so good!
Reviewed: 02-28-23
I enjoyed the first so much. There was good character development and the story was interesting. This volume was lack luster to say the least. The narrator was just awful compared to the first book in the series. The addition and removel of characters made the book confusing and hard to follow. If I had known, I wouldn't have wasted the credits.

Story
Billy Todd has always been different. Most people called him odd, and those were the nice people. Though he was born with a learning disability, Billy's parents never allowed him to consider himself disabled. Raised to be self-sufficient, Billy might not be as smart as some, but he was a lot smarter than people realized.

I love historical fiction and usually get into the writer's world really quickly. This book was a slow start, and it took me several chapters to finally get into it. Once I did it was a good listen.
