About this listen

This novella by NewYork Times bestselling author William R. Forstchen imagines a horrifying scenario where, in the course of one day, the terrorist group ISIS carries out massacres in schools and on highways across the United States. With a surprisingly small but well-organized and ruthless force, the nightmarish devastation brings America to a state of near paralysis.

Bob Petersen arrives with his daughter at the middle school in Maine where he teaches, expecting another regular day but worried about what recent ominous news reports might portend. Suddenly his school - along with many others across the United States - is under attack. Gunmen burst in, slaughtering children and adults alike.

From the ISIS leader in Syria to the murderous rampages throughout the States, Day of Wrath reveals with chilling effect how national panic and paralyzing terror can bring a mighty country to a near standstill. Petersen's fight to save lives and stop the merciless gunmen provides edge-of-your-seat drama. This provocative work should stimulate an intense national debate.

WEAR HEADPHONES IF KIDS NEAR!

Terrifying! Don't listen with kids near! The scenario spelled out in this book will keep me on edge for the rest of my children's school career and beyond. Read or listen at your own risk. Well written and performed. Brings to light all of the security risks and nightmare scenarios that will plague my thoughts for years to come. Freddy Cruiger pails in comparison. A must read for parents who have their eyes open to the possibility of this situation actually occurring on our soil. Listen only with older 'more mature ' kids for awareness of possible dangers and to come up with plans of action. And may God help us all if it ever does!

Scariest Book Ever

This book is probably the scariest Book I've ever read. The scenario is 100 percent plausible and the worst part is that the author knows exactly how we would react to the scenario. This isn't a happy American ending book so don't expect one. NOT for the faint of heart.

Terrifying and realistic

Where does Day of Wrath rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Don't read if you can't handle a very possible scenario. William Forstchen knocks it out of the park with this terrifyingly realistic modern day possibility. You'll look at your world differently after reading this book.

What other book might you compare Day of Wrath to and why?

Nothing I've read yet is as plausible as this.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

From almost the very beginning he pulls you in.

Any additional comments?

This should be right up there with One Second After for great apocalyptic fiction.

ABOUT THE BEST YET

As I am about a 2 year Audible member now, finally getting the hang of it. Somebody recommends a book you never heard of. You listen, and if you like it you search the author for more. Day of Wrath is not an uncommon title, and this book by Forstchen is one he claims he never wanted to write. The story is frighteningly close to home; the way in unfolds brings the reader / listener ever closer to the source, and the last few lines are embedded forever in my memory. This may be the most powerful presentation of simple mayhem ever written.

GUT WRENCHING

Very insightful, with strong warning subtext. Bottom line, live by the Boy Scout Motto and teach others.
