Story
As a wolf shifter growing up in a strong pack, I should be living my best life. But after my father tried to kill our leader, I’m labelled an outcast, traitor, less than dirt. When I can't take pack life any longer, I run, but apparently they don't like losing their punching bag. Torin, the leader’s son, drags me back before my first shift...a shift that will reveal my true mate. I never could have predicted who mine would be, but the moment my wolf looks upon him, I’m filled with hope for a brighter future.

Annoying yet captivating
Reviewed: 09-27-24
I guess this makes the author amazing because I felt Shadow’s annoyance with Mera every step of the way…yet I was so captivated with her and the unfolding story. There were times that I laughed so hard at the things Mera said, yet I can’t help but think how stupid the situation is. I couldn’t decide if I loved or hated the book, but I’m on book two so I guess I like it enough to continue! It’s honestly a really interesting story, just need to get past the annoying 22-year old FMC monologues about how hot Shadow is.
Female narrator is one of my favourites, flawless, but the male narrator…the voice fits Shadow’s character, just the way he narrates doesn’t sound how I expect a brooding 2000-year old being to sound.

Story
I’ve been waiting my whole life to get my wolf. But now that the time is here, I need to run. Three years ago, a nightmare of an alpha took over my pack by force, and ever since, he’s been trying to do the same to me. I can’t let that happen. I need to escape him before he can lay a claim, flee from what I’ve always wanted, or risk getting a wolf that will submit to him.

A few errors
Reviewed: 09-24-24
I’m in the first quarter of the story and so far there are a few things that bother me. Some phrases were written wrongly - extending an olive leaf then a few sentences on an olive branch; a flip has switched. The narration was alright but feels disingenuous, I don’t get the emotion from the narrator.
Story wise so far is all right, we shall see as we go.
Now that I’m at the end of the story I’d say overall it’s okay. Not a favourite but a light read to get your shifter romance fix. Writing got better as the book went on.

Love the story, still hate Scarlett
Reviewed: 06-03-24
I remain such a huge fan of the story…the twists and turns, the ups and downs. Revelations hitting you from everywhere, heartbreak ripping you apart - and through all that chaos the narrators remain great performers. They really bring the characters and story to life.
Four books in and I still can’t stand Scarlett, which is unfortunate seeing as she’s the FMC. I understand that she’s young and impulsive, but my god she’s infuriating. She has grown a little bit, which I appreciate, but there are still bits of her that grate on me.
Overall still an amazing story and have the last book ready in my library. Not sure if I’m ready to finish the series though :(

Story
It turned out Alessio Russo was a gentleman even when he was a savage. We bickered. We kissed. We fought. We made love. He thrilled me and scared me. Still, we slowly started to find a way to each other, but before I had a chance to come clean with him, I had to leave the country. Then all hell broke loose.

Interesting twist
Reviewed: 05-24-24
The story overall was enjoyable, not the best story but still okay. The little plot twist a the last bit of the book was one of the more unique ones, however the resolution was just so incredibly unbelievable. Nothing in the world can convince me that Alessio can do what he did at the end. If he had the background then possibly, maybe. Overall a good listen, albeit repetitive. Narration was good…always enjoy a true duet narration, keeps the characters in-character.

Story
Scarlett Semiria knew the cost of her actions the day she sacrificed everything to keep her family, her Courts, and her twin flame safe. At least she thought she did. When she discovers the cost was more than she could have ever anticipated, she finds herself once again forced to choose between saving innocents or saving the ones she loves. But this choice might just leave her so broken, even the stars won’t be able to bring her back.

Will she ever grow?
Reviewed: 05-18-24
I honestly do enjoy the story so far even if it’s a little typical and predictable. Haven’t been able to stop listening three books in. I’m in the first half of the book as I review this only because…three books in and SCARLETT HAS NOT GROWN! After everything she’s been through. After everything Sorin has done for her. After all the conflict. She is still the same. Why. So quick to point the finger but deflects when the finger is pointed back. Having a hard time wanting to continue only because I cannot sit through another Scarlett temper tantrum knowing there is bound to be even more secrets. In the grand scheme of things it makes sense…Sorin is centuries old vs Scarlett’s baby 19 years…still pains me. May the gods grant me the patience of Sorin so I may choose to continue listening to this book.

Story
Whisked away to the Fire Court, Scarlett Monrhoe finds herself in the hands of the man who killed her mother. The Prince of Fire. Thrust amongst the Fae court she loathes, she is at their mercy. She doesn’t know what plans he has for her, but she has plans of her own. She just hasn’t decided how thoroughly she wants to break him yet. If only he didn’t tempt her with every breath, every touch, every kiss. It’s another dangerous game that has her wondering if she will be the one irreparably broken in the end.

Story is amazing
Reviewed: 05-17-24
Story is amazing but Scarlett remains gratingly frustrating. I understand the need for some conflict for character and story development but my god she does. Not. Grow. Sorin remains such a patient, compromising male, thank goodness. While he’s chasing her around she’s just throwing tantrums left and right when she could’ve done more herself. Thankfully the story itself is good enough to pull me through, the pace is great, revelations are so emotional.
Love the dual narration on this book though! Amazing performance for an amazing story.

Good fantasy story, amazing narration
Reviewed: 05-16-24
The story is good, albeit a typical fae fantasy storyline, narration was fantastic, but my goodness Scarlett gets so painfully annoying and frustrating. Without spoiling too much…stop swinging back and forth!! When she has to listen she doesn’t, and when she shouldn’t she does. Just. Ugh. So frustrating. She can’t get out of her own head and just refuses to listen. Initially it was fine then it happened again and just UGH!! The book was so so good but it got painful for a teeny tiny bit towards the last few hours. Sorin is one very patient male, thank god 😂
That aside, the Laura Horowitz is an amazing narrator and her voice is so pleasing to listen to. Each character’s voice is distinct, the emotions were almost tangible. Fantastic performance overall. She is now my top female narrator 😍

Story
It’s a ghost town, this place that haunts me, the one that made me. It’s clear to me that I’ll never outgrow Triple Falls or outlive the time I spent here. I can still feel them all, my boys of summer. Even when I'd sensed the danger, I gave in. I didn’t heed a single warning. I let my sickness and my love both rule and ruin me. I played my part, eyes wide open, tempting fate until it delivered. There was never going to be an escape. All of us are to blame for what happened. All of us are serving our own sentences.

Good story, bad narration
Reviewed: 03-06-24
The story overall was engaging enough, the dark was relatively mild in comparison to what is out there. I’m glad neither FMC nor MMC were annoying, though I wish there was more to their romance.
The narration, however, was difficult to get through. I managed to listen through the whole book only by speeding up the narration so the voices sound better, and the pace was more acceptable.
One thing that didn’t translate well into this format is the change between present and 3 years ago and some points - since we don’t get to physically the the paragraphs to indicate a change in setting, it can take you a moment to realize they’ve jumped back/forward in time.

Ouch
Reviewed: 03-01-24
This book was painful to listen to. Painful because the abuse FMC has to go through is horrible. Painful because the story was a little too repetitive. Painful because why have an MMC when he is hardly there??
I understand that River has been abused as a child - I can’t begin to imagine how that can damage you - but what I don’t understand is how a woman who breaks a man’s nose after 38seconds of dancing with her goes to become so meek and docile, thinking she deserves the abuse her rich boyfriend puts her through?! Maybe he has systematically broken her down, cut her connections and independence…but if such is the case then how is she not accepting MMC’s help when he’s holding both hands and feet out?? How is she thinking about “revenge” but still making excuses for Ryan??
I have hours more to go but it’s getting so painful. Trying my best to give the story a chance. The dark themes are not what is bothering me, it’s the infuriating and inconsistent FMC that is just…ARGH!
