I listen to a lot of books on this topic and I really tried to like this one but I just couldn't do it. the author tried to put in too many details I guess just for filler in the narrator although his voice was okay he liked to make the character sound whiny. I gave it about about 2 hours of my life but now I'm done

not quite as good as the first one but definitely better than the second one. I hate how a lot of the Survival series eventually work their way into Civil War. I'm not saying one way or the other if that would happen, but when I read a survivalist book I like to hear about the survival part...

Story
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

The story begins on opening day of the NFL season, when bullets begin to rain down upon the upper deck of a packed football stadium. A panic stampede ensues, leading to mass casualties. The alleged sniper is found holding a smoking assault rifle, and is killed by a police marksman. One week later, Congress bans the private possession of all semi-automatic assault rifles. Gun owners are given one week to turn in their semi-automatic rifles, or face a five year mandatory sentence.

What did you love best about Enemies Foreign and Domestic?
I was really excited when I saw this available because I started reading this book a while back but didn't have time to finish it. But as soon as I started it, I was wondering if I made the right choice.
I don't know if the author is friends with this guy or what but it sounds like he recorded it on a cassette player. Not to mention there is no feeling what so ever in his monotone voice. I am from the south and have an accent so I 'm used to hearing a southern draw, but not in my audio books.
Would you be willing to try another one of Mike Kemp’s performances?
Not no but H*ll no! This guy is terrible
Any additional comments?
I hope audible starts doing a better job of screening for quality

America is in the thrall of a full-scale socioeconomic breakdown. The stock market plummets, hyperinflation destroys the value of the dollar, and the population, unprepared for hardship, panics. Practically overnight, the high technology infrastructure and chains of supply collapse and wholesale rioting and looting grip every city. Law enforcement, transportation, electricity, fuel, and medical supplies are all in the past now, as the country staggers beneath its own weight.

No where near as good as the Patriots
Reviewed: 10-17-11
Would you try another book from James Wesley, Rawles and/or Dick Hill?
I am still a Rawles fan, I have listened to Patriots more than once and continue to read his blog. I just wasn't impressed with this one and I hope he really steps it up for the next one.
What could James Wesley, Rawles have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
I understand he is a Christian and I respect that, but I wish he didn't have to throw it in every chapter.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I am not at all a Dick Hill fan. He narrated Rawles' other two books and did a poor job on those also. His accents are terrible.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
This book didn't have anywhere near the information Patriots did.
Any additional comments?
There was very little action until the end. There were to many plots going on at the same time, and none were very interesting. Over all it was boring. I have turned of books of the same caliber

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Watch the movie. I like Krakauer but he used to much of what is supposed to be Chris's story to tell his own. Watch the movie and you won't have to listen to all that.
What else would you have wanted to know about Jon Krakauer’s life?
Nothing, why is this even a question? This isn't supposed to be Krakauer's biography.

Story
A plan to destroy America, a hundred years in the making, is about to be unleashed. There is a powerful technique called the Overton Window that can shape our lives, our laws, and our future. It works by manipulating public perception so that ideas previously thought of as radical begin to seem acceptable over time. Move the Window and you change the debate. Change the debate and you change the country.

Great story with good information
Reviewed: 08-28-10
This book was right up my alley and I can't wait for the sequel, though the narration wasn't hitting on much, he shouldn't have attempted accents. I really liked the story and the way he incorporated real information. I will say some of it went into to much detail (mostly gun descriptions) but I believe he did this for people that don't really know these types of things and are looking to get "prepared".
