Story
A mid-air collision in the Alaskan wilderness between two small aircraft leaves ten people dead. Was it a bird strike, pilot error...or premeditated murder? Then an eleventh body is found in the wreckage: a man shot gangland style, twice in the chest and once in the head. In an investigation that reaches to the highest levels of government, justice may not be served, but Kate Shugak is determined that the truth will out, even at the risk of her life and the lives of those she loves most.

Disappointed
Reviewed: 08-10-24
Author couldn't get off her opinionated soap box long enough to write the story. I read to escape the “noise” but Stabenow decided to incorporate nonsense into entertainment. Sloppily written. One character back from the dead. The narrator did a good job as usual but I won’t be back for more of stabenow.

Story
My name is Mercy Thompson Hauptman, and my mate, Adam, is the werewolf who leads the Columbia Basin Pack, the pack charged with keeping the people who live and work in the Tri-Cities of Washington State safe. It’s a hard job, and it doesn’t leave much room for side quests. Which is why when I needed to travel to Montana to help my brother, I intended to go by myself.

Too much

Like other reviewers I’m going let this be the last Patricia Briggs book. The interludes did not help the story flow for me. The insertion of agenda items made me feel like PB was virtue signaling and felt somewhat forced. I enjoy this world but my own imagination will have to take it from here.

Story
Cassie Tate witnessed something that no human was ever supposed to see: an elf in his true form. In that instant, the 17-year old girl was thrown directly into the middle of an age-old war between light and dark elves. But before she is captured and executed, Cassie is rescued by an unlikely hero - Triktapic - an elf with a heart so dark that he strikes fear into the entire elfin realm.

Reviews were not a good gauge

I looked at the number of purchases and the amount of good reviews before I bought. I should have looked into more than I did because this was not a good listen for me. I dont want to listen to anyone “yell” while narrating. I felt that was not a good interpretation, or rather, an immature one. The whole book was rather immature. I was prepared for a light read but this almost floated it was so light. My mistake for purchasing, hope this helps you choose wisely.
