Not as good as the original series
Reviewed: 02-21-21
I really liked the original series and Puck was my favorite character but I found this book lacking.I felt like the story jumped around in some spots from current to the past and I'm not sure why the author did that, it seemed irrelevant. I felt like the chemistry between the characters were not there as well. I liked how goofy Puck was with Megan and the love/ hate relationship between Puck and Ash and in this book they seemed estranged but it got better between them at the end. I'm excited for the future books., seems like they'll be promising but was disappointed in this one. Also. I was not a fan of the narrorator, some of the voices were haughty and annoying.

The story could have been great from another point of view. I feel like I was missing out on a bunch of the stories because of the few people he interviewed. The narrator was really good. wouldn't mind listening to another one of the books he narrates.

Story
Felix Allsey is a travel writer with a keen eye for the paranormal, and he's carved out a unique, if only slightly lucrative, niche for himself in nonfiction; he writes travelogues of the country's most haunted places, after haunting them himself. When he convinces the owner of the infamous Rotterdam Mansion to let him stay on the premises for two weeks, he believes he's finally found the location that will bring him a best seller. Then things start going wrong: screams from upstairs, figures in the thresholds, and more than what should be in any basement.

I love haunted house movies so this book sounded perfect! I was so disappointed. The only part I liked was the twist ending. I didn't see it coming. For the most part it was boring and drug on. There were a few parts that could have been creepy but they over analyze them. I would not recommend this book to anyone. the narrator was ok.

I waited on getting this book but I'm glad I finally gave in. The narrator is amazing. it was very easy to tell the characters apart. I loved the old vampire lore and how they were monsters and not seductive love interests. I will definitely listen to this book again.
