Fragility

The line between comforting, reality & haunting crossed repeatedly until my emotions just accepted it. Grief doesn't have options or expectations; it's a blurry state of mind that floats over you. This book helped me understand the bargaining of grief.

This read like a slow ride to the next city block. The subject wasn't new, and the outcome was obvious without hoopla. The other characters had more to offer and should have been the focus.

Slow ride to disappointment
Reviewed: 06-07-23
I've had this one for months; I started and stopped several times. Based on the "cover" I was determined to read and review it. After getting a vibe of a disappointing ending, I still kept going against my better judgment. Wagner strikes again!

Good longer than needed listen

I went back and forth over buying this one due to the "too long" reviews. The reviews were right; HOWEVER, it was a subject not many cover and care was needed. I enjoyed the slow simmering intimate conversations about loss and marriage.

This book struggled. The story was going in different directions without exploring the subject... I don't know if this was a love story or an std/sexual abuse recovery guide. With focus, it could have been way more interesting than it was.

Story
Eric Jerome Dickey strides boldly over the minefield that is modern marriage. The central couple's biggest challenge is timing: He works days; she works nights. Instead of growing together, they're rapidly drifting apart, coexisting on stolen phone calls from work, punctuated by occasional bedroom encounters that leave them both feeling even emptier and more alone. When she finds out about his affair - and starts her own - the delicate fabric of their marriage is torn irrevocably asunder. Or is it?

Katherine Nichols knew she’d had too many drinks, but they were only going a short distance. “There’s no traffic anyway,” Eve had pointed out. And they'd had such a great night out, the two of them. Even now, driving them home and knowing she shouldn’t, seemed almost mischievous. All part of the fun. Not anymore.

I wasted a credit! Previous book was really good but this was such a waste. Why? it took forever to get to an uneventful ending. I knew it was BAD early on do I keep going hoping it would get better. Ultimately finished it solely because I just hate leaving a book unfinished.
