Story
Everyone thinks my husband is dead. Just like we planned. Eleven years ago, my husband disappeared. Eleven long hard years I waited, my heart breaking for our son, who didn’t know his father was coming back. Today, my hands shake as I try to understand what I’ve just learned: my husband has a new wife. This wasn’t part of our plan. Eleven years ago, my husband made a terrible mistake. I sacrificed everything to help him fix it. But now he’s put our son and me in danger again. We had a plan. He broke the rules. But who will pay the price?

Spoiler alert - missing info that bothers me
Reviewed: 11-22-24
I absolute adore KL Slater but there was something unresolved in this book that bothers me.
She was so confident that the money would be put in the account on a certain day but even with the back and forth dialogue- the details of when the return would happen was never discussed. Why that day? Why would she get the funds in the account but not see him the same day if he was planned to return? I feel like her books never have loose ends but I feel like this was one of
Nonetheless - I absolutely adore her books and can’t wait for the next. Well done.

Wonderful testimony
Reviewed: 09-04-23
I heard about this book while listening to Crime Weekly and the book was mentioned. I paused the podcast and came over to audible and purchased the book. The next morning I began listening and 4 days later finished the book. It’s a beautiful testimony to how the Lord always works everything out for good in the end. There is no excuses for what he did but the love and forgiveness and grace told are a testimony of the Lord walking through our struggles With us. Thank you Kerri.

Story
Ten years ago he killed my son. Today I married him. Ten years ago my darling son Jesse was murdered and our perfect family was destroyed. My strong, handsome boy, so full of life, became a memory, a photo I carried with me everywhere. But today I’m finally close to finding happiness again. My ash-blonde hair has been curled into ringlets. Carefully placed white flowers frame my delicate features. The small, drab chapel has been prettied up with white satin, and there are tiny red hearts scattered on the small table where I will soon sign the register with my new husband.

I had to listen to the first 15 minutes a few times to catch on to the storyline and there was one time 1:50 and 1:59 where the exact same phrase was repeated. I’m thinking it was a small oversight when editing.
I love this author and can’t put the books down. The reader is phenomenal and Her voice is enjoyable.
