Story
When Sonya MacTavish inherits the huge Victorian mansion on the coast of Maine, she has no idea that the house is haunted. The footsteps she hears at night, the doors slamming, the music playing, are not figments of her imagination. In her dreams she sees glimpses of the past. In the present she finds portraits of brides. And when she has visions of an antique mirror, she is drawn to it, sensing it holds dark family secrets.

Interesting, but...
Reviewed: 11-23-24
I LOVE Nora's books but am not a fan of the mystical, magical, spooky genres. This book combines all those kinds of stories as well as romance (which I DO like).
My main problem with this trilogy is Brittany Pressley. Her voice does not match me. It may be good for this series, but the screeching excitement really grates.
The story is interesting but not my forte. I thought I'd give it a chance because NORA...
I won't give it back and will buy the third book also, but these are not my favorites.

Story
Jo told him the phone call had been about a woman who wanted to have her husband declared dead. Smith thought for a moment and then said, 'Hmm. There must be a few million women in this country who feel like that. I take it her husband's been missing for a while and she's decided it's time to move on. In the absence of a body, which is always a nuisance, she wants Diver and Diver to confirm there's no proof he's alive. And I've told Jason a dozen times I'm not getting involved in anything matrimonial. I have enough trouble sorting out my own relationships.'

The story was, as always, involved, believable and entertaining. Can’t wait for the next one.

Story
Of all the things that could have landed in her yard, it had to be him. For most people, finding a half-naked superbeing in their yard might be a dream come true. Unfortunately for Gracie Castro, it’s the exact opposite. Especially when he’s grouchy, rude, and shows no signs of leaving anytime soon. But when a hero of mankind needs you, you do what you have to. Even if it compromises everything you know. And totally changes your life.

I don’t listen to sci-fi. Mariana Zapata is one of my favorite writers and seeing her new book, I thought I’d take a chance. I’m glad I did.
The story was interesting, although there were times I didn’t know what was going on. Then, the background would be filled in and I was again up-to-speed.
Connor Craig’s has a great voice but it wasn’t loud enough until the end. Callie Dalton is great but virulent is not the same as virile.
Will listen to this book again and I’m sure I’ll enjoy it even more.

Story
Former Super Bowl MVP quarterback Zach Bridger hasn’t seen his ex-wife, Rebecca Pratt, for some time—not since their volatile marriage imploded—so he’s shocked to receive a life-altering call about her. Rebecca has been placed on life support after a violent assault, and he—despite their divorce—has medical power-of-attorney. Zach is asked to make an impossible choice: keep her on life support or take her off of it. Buckling under the weight of the responsibility and the glare of public scrutiny, Zach ultimately walks away, letting Rebecca's parents have the final say.

The storyline was almost believable. I'm sure there are people in the world like Eban. I don't think they would risk everything to achieve freedom.
Narrator was good.
Overall, not a waste of my time.

Lacey Terwilliger's shock and humiliation over her husband's philandering prompt her to add some bonus material to Mike's company newsletter: stunning Technicolor descriptions of the special brand of "administrative support" his receptionist gives him. The detailed mass e-mail to Mike's family, friends, and clients blows up in her face, and before one can say "instant urban legend", Lacey has become the pariah of her small Kentucky town and a media punch line....

Story
Nothing good ever comes from drinking a box of wine alone. So when I decided to entertain my drunken self by setting up some hand-me-down podcasting equipment and reading the steamy parts from romance novels, I never thought anyone would actually listen. The fact that I admitted my huge crush on my sexy next door neighbor made the whole thing even more mortifying. But sometimes life surprises you, and that’s how my podcast, Heidi’s Discount Erotica, was born. Now I, Heidi Larsen, a sweet former kindergarten teacher in Waconia, Minnesota, lead a scandalous double life.
