Story
Tess Strebel can’t recognize her own face. She can’t recognize her home. Her bedroom is unfamiliar. And she can’t remember the handsome stranger lying next to her in bed. A stranger who claims he’s her husband. Tess reads a letter in her own handwriting, composed during a rare lucid day, explaining her life as it now exists: she was in a terrible car accident one year ago. Every morning, she wakes up unable to remember most of the last decade. Including her own wedding.

Too much repetition
Reviewed: 06-09-25
This is the first time I’ve wanted to read the end of the book to see how the story ends. Way too much unnecessary repetition. I understand that repetition is part of the story but there are better ways to handle that without the exact words. Narrator was good

Story
Travis Devine has become a pro at accomplishing any mission he's given. But this time it’s not his skills that send him to Seattle to aid the FBI in escorting orphaned, twelve-year-old Betsy Odom to a meeting with her uncle, who’s under federal investigation. Instead, he’s hoping to lay low and keep off the radar of an enemy–the girl on the train. But as Devine gets to know Betsy, questions begin to arise around the death of her parents.

Lots of action, twist and turns, but what really made this book outstanding was the use of multiple narrators. It really worked. They were all great. Hopefully will see more of this in future audiobooks

Story
Sara Marsala barely knows who she is anymore after the failure of her business and marriage. On top of that, her beloved great-aunt Rosie passes away, leaving Sara bereft with grief. But Aunt Rosie’s death also opens an escape from her life and a window into the past by way of a plane ticket to Sicily, a deed to a possibly valuable plot of land, and a bombshell family secret. Rosie believes Sara’s great-grandmother Serafina, the family matriarch who was left behind while her husband worked in America, didn’t die of illness as family lore has it . . . she was murdered.

Story
Hana Babic is a quiet middle-aged librarian in Minnesota who wants nothing more than to be left alone. But when a detective arrives with the news that her best friend has been murdered, Hana knows that something evil has come for her, a dark remnant of the past she and her friend had shared. Thirty years before, Hana was someone else: Nura Divjak, a teenager growing up in the mountains of war-torn Bosnia—until Serbian soldiers arrived to slaughter her entire family before her eyes. The events of that day thrust Nura into the war, leading her to join a band of militia fighters.

Great story. Poor narration
Reviewed: 02-28-25
Because of the monotone delivery of the narrator I almost returned this book. I really liked the story so I stuck with it. Glad I did. The story was great. I think the narrator was chosen because she was good at the Bosnian language and accent but the rest of her reading was terrible. My advice is try to ignore the narrator-the story is worth it.

For GBI investigator Will Trent and medical examiner Sara Linton, McAlpine Lodge seems like the ideal getaway to celebrate their honeymoon. Set on a gorgeous, off-the-grid mountaintop property, it’s the perfect place to unplug and reconnect. Until a bone-chilling scream cuts through the night. Mercy McAlpine, the manager of the Lodge, is dead. With a vicious storm raging and the one access road to the property washed out, the murderer must be someone on the mountain. I always enjoy Will Trent books, but this one was exceptionally enjoyable because the narrator was absolutely amazing! Kathleen Early made the text come alive with her incredible acting skills. If only all audiobooks had this caliber of narration! The only thing I didn't like was the heavy use of profanity throughout. Unfortunately, it seems as if no one can speak or write without using the F word these days. If you can ignore that, you'll definitely enjoy the book.
