About this listen

Tess Strebel can’t recognize her own face.

She can’t recognize her home. Her bedroom is unfamiliar. And she can’t remember the handsome stranger lying next to her in bed. A stranger who claims he’s her husband.

Tess reads a letter in her own handwriting, composed during a rare lucid day, explaining her life as it now exists: she was in a terrible car accident one year ago. Every morning, she wakes up unable to remember most of the last decade. Including her own wedding.

Tess has no choice but to accept her new life and hope her memory will return. After all, why should she doubt the letter she wrote to herself? Or the kind man from the wedding photos on her dresser who seems to genuinely care about her well-being?

And then Tess receives a text message on her phone. One that changes everything:

"Don’t trust the man who calls himself your husband."

Good but her others are better

I liked it. But was waiting for a min ONG! And it just was eh. But I’m not a writer! I love all of her others so far.

One of the better ones

I've listened to a few of McF's books when I've wanted a suspense story. This will probably be my last, since the remaining ones don't interest me much. The only ones I've really, really liked were The first two Housemaid stories. The others just didn't interest me as much or had too much "ick" to them. But I did enjoy this one pretty well. It's not too violent, though I'm really sick of authors who think Christian blasphemy is acceptable for swear words. Not too sensitive in today's supposedly sensitive society! My only reasons for three stars are a kind of confusing ending and the long-winded and often redundant commentary that often interrupts the action and dialogue. This is a flaw of all her books, though.

Groundhog Day all Over Again

The book was okay. Predictable. A little boring on occasion, as if I just read that. But it was a great performance.

Fast-paced fluff

This book seemed like a short story stretched into a novel. It was initially fast-paced and engaging but became somewhat tiresome after numerous repetitions. I admire the author's uncluttered writing style, which made it an easy listen. I have to admit that I was a little disappointed by the ending. Overall rating: 3.5 stars rounded up

Freida never disappoints

Seriously why did I wait so long to read this Freida novel? Sooo good. Loved the twist. Entertaining the whole time. The psychological thriller version of 50 first dates. This should be a movie.
