I loved this series a lot but I have a problem with the author!
Reviewed: 05-21-24
The series. This was a completely engrossing story with never ending action, but I have a BIG problem with the author! He comes off as needy and sad. He has to insert “author’s notes” after every section (12 of them) and they all end with pleading to “please like me”! Other authors wait until the finish of the book to add authors notes and I actually enjoy it! Not Mr Krause…We’re reading your book..,please shut up!!!!

In 1984, a doomsday vault was constructed on a remote island in the Arctic Ocean. Its purpose was to preserve Earth's genetic history in the event of a global catastrophe. Now, decades later, a second vault has been uncovered, this one resting where no one ever expected. And the problem is it's not ours. Yet even more curious than the vault itself is what lies inside. Seeds. Millions of seeds. Each with a genetic embryo untouched and perfectly preserved. Waiting.

A magnificent story of a werewolf from first conception to a storied career in wartime of WWll! I have never enjoyed anything as much as this book! The authors descriptive style is beyond compare! I have read nearly everything he has written to this point and thoroughly enjoyed all of them but I have never read anything from anyone more sweepingly epic than this! I was worn out by the finish with pure adrenaline. I WILL reread this in the future! BRAVO!!!!!

This was one of those rare times the sequel was FAR better than the original! It was a “nail biter” from the first chapter and kept getting better and better! I didn’t even know a sequel existed until I reread the original and audible listed this as next in the series. If you liked the first one you MUST read this!! Get ready for a roller coaster!!

I have been a fan of Pendergast since day one when he was “born” in Relic. I started re reading them in print since that day and when they became AUDIBLE I started all over. I fell in love again with the detective when I heard the voice given him! I was hooked. Thru all the previous 20 books he has remained a delight…until now and 21. This narrator read him as a common, ordinary and boring human being! HE IS NOT!! Said narrator went from there to a main female player whom he read as a poor man’s Katherine Hepburn! He couldn’t harm the story but it was VERY HARD to listen to. Pendergast deserves better treatment!!! Don’t let this stop you from enjoying the book because it IS delightful!
