About this listen

In 1984, a doomsday vault was constructed on a remote island in the Arctic Ocean. Its purpose was to preserve Earth's genetic history in the event of a global catastrophe. Now, decades later, a second vault has been uncovered, this one resting where no one ever expected. And the problem is it's not ours.

Yet even more curious than the vault itself is what lies inside. Seeds. Millions of seeds. Each with a genetic embryo untouched and perfectly preserved. Waiting.

No one knows who built it. Or when. What we have managed to figure out is that whoever it was traveled an immense distance. For the sole purpose of hiding their genetic blueprints on Earth. But why?

Now, a small group of marine biologists and navy investigators have been assigned to find out. Before anyone else does. But Alison Shaw and John Clay are not prepared for what they are about to uncover. Beginning with the truth behind our own evolution.

A very good series so far

I stumbled upon this series via recommendation based on previous purchases. I believe that this series was recommended based on all of the David Baldacci books I have. The Breakthrough series has turned out to be quite a good one.

Michael Grumley was unknown to me prior to “Breakthrough”, the first book in the series. I will admit I was a bit leery as I was afraid they would be to far-fetched and out there, being labeled as a sci-fi take on current times. But I enjoyed the first book and that led to the second and third, and now I feel like I’m gonna have to read them all.

I really enjoyed Catalyst, although I’m very sad we lost Juan in this story. Last night I was listening to it on my phone and I hated to put it away so I could go to bed. It was that good. The action and adventure in this whole series so far has been as good as any series I’ve read by David Baldacci. And I have appreciated the sci-fi element as well. Sometimes sci-if stories can get really “preachy”, but this series is not that way at all. You get the story without the sermon, and also without gratuitous sex, foul language, etc. What you do get is what you need to move the story line along and hold your interest. I highly recommend this book, as well as the two that precede it, “Breakthrough” and “Leap”.

Catalyst

This is the 3rd. book in the series of books I've finished, written by Michael Grumley. Just when I think he can't out-top his last novel, he manages too anyhow. It's a nail-biting story line that you just can't put down. I love the continuity of the plot and the characters. He's my new favorite author. Thank you Michael!!!! I love a great novel!

Hah the ending was really awesome

Already have the next book queued up so I am about to dive right in. Pun soooo intended. When this book started I began to wonder if this was going to a series like, "The Wonderful Adventures of Dirk and Sally!" Which would have been a treat in itself, but I was please to find out many storylines from the previous book were explained and continued. Great series so far!

Surprising

Wasn’t sure what to expect from this but, there were some surprises. All the text with detailed conversations between government officials left me cold. Then came chapter 7. Chapter 7 and the three chapters that followed reeled me in. Every chapter with Dulce (you,ll learn who she is) and/or the two remarkable dolphins as the centerpiece are totally engaging. The remarkable mammal superstars are the heart of this book. The premise is a bit wild but, the animals will surprise and help you believe.

Totally hooked on Michael Grumley

If you like action/adventure/a touch of political intrigue (neither left nor right)/ and technical Somewhat like Michael Creighton you will love Michael Grumley.
My first book was The Last Monument, I had to stop and listen to Desert of Glass first. Once I finished those two I had to have more. I went back to the Breakthrough Series. Catalyst is the third in this series.
If I have any complaint it’s that sometimes he skips details that would better help me understand, but that just makes me pay close attention.
Excellent reads all of them.

I am really enjoying the series. I love the reader. Does it get better than Scott Brick? the collection of characters and the storyline.
