Story
For the last 100,000 years, we Sapiens have accumulated enormous power. But despite all our discoveries, inventions, and conquests, we now find ourselves in an existential crisis. The world is on the verge of ecological collapse. Misinformation abounds. And we are rushing headlong into the age of AI—a new information network that threatens to annihilate us. For all that we have accomplished, why are we so self-destructive? Nexus looks through the long lens of human history to consider how the flow of information has shaped us, and our world.

Information isn’t truth
Reviewed: 11-22-24
This reading has emphasized several core elements of our existence, including our behaviors, beliefs, and experiences of suffering. Key strategies such as self-reflection, education and awareness, mindfulness and emotional regulation, seeking support, setting goals, embracing change, and practicing compassion are crucial. By actively engaging with these approaches, individuals can successfully navigate and tackle these essential aspects of their lives. Ultimately, it's important to recognize that information does not equate to truth.

I enjoy this reading the most. It is doing nothing where I find the most joy. This book is a good reminder and also a good start for someone who wants to detach from systems.

Story
The world is out of balance. With increasing frequency, we are presented with the inescapable truth that systemic racism and colonial structures are foundational principles to our economies. The $1 trillion philanthropic industry is one example of a system that mirrors oppressive colonial behavior. It’s an industry whose name means “the love for humankind”, yet it does more harm than good.

The most important book for white people to read
Reviewed: 05-06-24
Even that I agree with 96.5% about this book, something tells me how wrong would be for black and indigenous people to use this system. The system of oppression. We don’t want your change, and this book has not have the change to decolonize itself. We black people are not lazy, like whites are calling us. Black people knows deep down consuming resources is unethical.

Story
If there is one belief that has united the left and the right, psychologists and philosophers, ancient thinkers and modern ones, it is the tacit assumption that humans are bad. It's a notion that drives newspaper headlines and guides the laws that shape our lives. From Machiavelli to Hobbes, Freud to Pinker, the roots of this belief have sunk deep into Western thought. Human beings, we're taught, are by nature selfish and governed primarily by self-interest.

Most fungi live out of sight, yet make up a massively diverse kingdom of organisms that supports and sustains nearly all living systems. Fungi provide a key to understanding the planet on which we live, and the ways we think, feel, and behave.

Trungpa teaches us to let go of the urge to make meditation serve our ambition; thus we can relax into openness.

What I like about this book is that the West is actually grasping about spiritually, not there yet. What I dislike about this book is that it hangs itself in the duality system, the cycles of data repetition. How do you write a book about spirituality and consciousness using old habits, and conditionings? I do not acknowledge the linguistic systems, and label system, monetary system, and the law system to find about spirituality. I hope this doesn’t became what Yoga is in the West, a 200 hour certificate. I wouldn’t recommend this book no one, that’s is to say the book will find its readers.
