The heart breaking truth!
Reviewed: 04-16-25
This book was remarkable, it broke my heart. It caused me to wake up and have to listen because I was so invested not just for Stella, but how she told the story of being a foster mom, dad and family and all the difficulties that come with that. This book was covered in emotion and joy.

A beautiful multi generational love story
Reviewed: 02-21-25
This book wrecked me. It was so brilliantly told, and you could feel the love of the generations. The war was told with love, and heartbreak. The love that could not be broken for generation.

A night spent sleeping on dirt and leaves is not how Claire Matchett expected to spend her vacation. She thought this would be a break. A week of hiking and hot tubs with two other couple friends. Then Claire’s minivan breaks down on a lonely dirt road. With no cell reception, the group has no choice but to hike the rest of the way to their hotel. But it turns out the woods aren’t as easy to navigate as they thought. Hours later, they are lost. Hopelessly lost. Story
Every expectant parent will tell you that they don't want a perfect baby, just a healthy one. Charlotte and Sean O'Keefe would have asked for a healthy baby, too, if they'd been given the choice. Instead their lives are made up of sleepless nights, mounting bills, the pitying stares of "luckier" parents, and, maybe worst of all, the what-ifs.

You broke me, this story is shattering and makes you completely stop and think. The description of the friendships, love, the mother child relationship. It’s all so powerful! I would find myself waking up in the night, thinking about it and had to roll over and listen because I couldn’t get it out of my mind. All the way to the bitter end all the way.

Story
Young playwright Melina Green has just written a new work inspired by the life of her Elizabethan ancestor Emilia Bassano. But seeing it performed is unlikely, in a theater world where the playing field isn’t level for women. As Melina wonders if she dares risk failure again, her best friend takes the decision out of her hands and submits the play to a festival under a male pseudonym.

Story
Investigative journalist Laura Chambers is back in her tiny hometown of Hillsborough, North Carolina, the one place she swore never to return. Fired from The Boston Globe, her career in shambles, she reluctantly takes a job with the local paper. The work is simple, unimportant, and worst of all, boring - at least until a missing girl turns up dead, the body impeccably clean, dressed to be the picture of innocence. Years earlier, 10-year-old Patty Finch left home and never made it back. But for the people of Hillsborough, Patty was just the beginning.
