Kept me listening

Good story from start to finish, despite the fact it had no "twists". Performance was excellent.

Meh.

It was ok. Not one of my favs and not gripping. Felt like it kinda dragged on and on.

Great story, hot mess characters

The story was great, and I couldn’t stop listening. I need a part 2. Finally a book with a good ending.

All the characters walk about in pity for themselves. 😤

First, about the narration. She reads a lot of the books I’ve read, and she’s good. In this one though, the sisters sound the same. It got confusing for me because this book drags at times, and I’d forget which one was whining.
Now, about the story. Rachel and Laura are sisters who grew up in foster care. Their mother died, and their father just left. They’ve had a bad childhood, but the story starts when they’re adults. It goes back and forth between them. Also, they live across the street from each other, same neighborhood. Laura is married and has a child. They’re always struggling with money, or the lack of it, but it’s never Laura’s fault. Nothing is. 🙄
Rachel is a teacher, and had been seeing another teacher, Paul, for years. He breaks it off with her, and she’s destroyed.
Laura finds their dad on social media, and welcomes him into their lives. No one else is happy with this, but Laura doesn’t care. She’s happy.
This isn’t a book with a huge twist. It’s just a book that keeps you half interested because you want to know where it’s going. When you find out, it’s like, “Meh. Could’ve been better.”
It’s free, so listen to it. It’s not worth a credit, but it’s worth free.

Same old predictable story....

Painfully long and no surprises. School drama was way more interesting than main story. Never did understand where the story took place, geographically. Had to believe it was Britain with the readers use of an English accent for the sisters. The characters had unenviable living conditions and one husband was a miserable slouch with no ambition. The whole thing left me depressed.

Cringeworthy behavior.

Wanted to stop listening, because the main character was so “off” with her behaviors, but wanted to find out who was the true psychopath in this story. Found it difficult to follow at times as the narrator used the same voice for all characters.

Just not clever enough

The “twists and turns” were not clever and just didn’t make for a believable story. In the end, I was disappointed.

WILD

This was so fun! I had low expectations because this is my first book of hers and I was taken over after the first couple chapters. One chapter you think you know who the bad one is and the next you change your mind.

It was a wild ride for sure!

Nice twist in the end

I really wasn’t expecting that ending. I was surprised. The book was a good listen and kept you wanting to hear more. I will look for more books from Ruth Harrow.

Kept me interested

I was anxious to get to the end of the book so that I could find out who the real bad guy or gal was. I wish the story would have kept going so that there could be happy endings for all the characters.
