Story
Five years ago Corin Cadence's brother entered the Serpent Spire - a colossal tower with ever-shifting rooms, traps, and monsters. Those who survive the spire's trials return home with an attunement: a mark granting the bearer magical powers. According to legend, those few who reach the top of the tower will be granted a boon by the spire's goddess. He never returned. Now it's Corin's turn. He's headed to the top floor, on a mission to meet the goddess.

Good Mechanics! Love the World he has built here
Reviewed: 02-17-22
I Love the story. The Main character is kinda weird but it worked. I'm a tech guy so all of the magic system and enchanting etc is really fun to listen to. There is an attempt that was really unnecessary for the book, where the author tries to make sexual preference a non schelant thing, when the MC CLEARLY has no interest in relationships because he is so busy all the time and also does not like physical touch. But he gets asked out on a date by another guy......and he blows it off like its nothing....when in reality, that would be extremely weird to ANY HUMAN. The author tried to play it off like everyone is like this. It doesn't work well, especially with the main characters weird personality includes not liking people in general. ANYWAY......that really doesn't go anywhere in this book, which is good because it really did not matter. Really could have gone without it and it would not have effected the story at all. The mechanics, magic, world building and the enchanting was so fun though. Very fun surprise!

Story
Corin Cadence finally has a firm reason to believe his brother, Tristan, is still alive. Unfortunately, finding more information isn’t going to be easy. Tristan appears to be entangled with a clandestine organization that calls themselves Whispers. And Corin’s last brush with the Whispers didn’t exactly end well. As much as he wants to follow that lead, Corin has more pressing problems to deal with.

The Woke ruins the story
Reviewed: 02-14-22
I read the first book and the story was excellent. Besides the COMPLETLY random homosexual hints that were obviously put in the book to virtue signal, it was great. The story could have been told without that and be an excellent story. This book takes it further and lectures me why I need to use neutral pronouns with how people "feel" in a particular day. That was very annoying and It actually takes AWAY from it. It is also very confusing because the author tried to use the "them they" pronoun thing and it makes you think there are several people there when there is just one. (doesn't work just because you want it to)
With that being said (this is an edit by the way) I have read further into the book and the mechanics and story are still fun, I really like Karis and Derek. They are fun powerful characters. Some other complaints are that I'm tired of being reminded how much the MC likes to talk about his being an introvert and not like being touched and flinching when people touch him and on and on and ON. Good God man! We get it! I think the MC needs to get over it . It turns him into a whiny little b*$ch. society does not need to conform to HIM, HE needs to grow a pair and confirm to NORMAL human behaviour. With that being said. When those things are omitted, It's still fun story. Just frustrating. 1st book was loads better.

Story
This revolutionary book about our future is based on the simple idea that, according to the Bible, heaven is not our eternal home - the New Earth is. As Jesus says in the Gospel of Matthew, the next chapter of our story begins with "the renewal of all things", by which he means the Earth we love in all its beauty, our own selves, and the things that make for a rich life: music, art, food, laughter, and all that we hold dear. Everything shall be renewed "when the world is made new".

Wonder at your future
Reviewed: 01-20-21
This is a good book to sit back and wonder and imagine what life will be like with God. I prayed the prayer in the book " Jesus, can you show me the kingdom? " Later that night my 2 year old son got in bed with me and I sat up. he walked to me and wanted me to hold him. It was a good moment with my little one. While I was holding him I then heard God in my head " This is the Kingdom" and I started to cry a little. Happy tears. A child in the safe arms of his father. Book is great! John did a good job!

Seemed like there was an undertone of a message that he wanted to say, but did not. It can translate a few ways so it all depends on your perspective of life I guess. Love the magic and the spells etc. I like books like that so I'm honestly not hard to please when books are magical Lol ! Looking forward to reading the sequel .

Story
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Story
King's Cross is Timothy Keller's revelatory look at the life of Christ as told in the Gospel of Mark. There have been many biographies of Jesus, but few will be as anticipated as this one by Keller, the man Newsweek calls "a C. S. Lewis for the 21st century". In it, Keller shows how the story of Jesus is at once cosmic, historical, and personal, calling each of us to look anew at our relationship with God.

Zack Lightman has never much cared for reality. He vastly prefers the countless science-fiction movies, books, and videogames he's spent his life consuming. And too often, he catches himself wishing that some fantastic, impossible, world-altering event could arrive to whisk him off on a grand spacefaring adventure.
