Story
When Iris decides to move to New York to restart her life, she realizes she underestimated how big the Big Apple really is—all the nostalgic movies set in New York she’d watched with her mom while eating their special secret-recipe gelato didn’t quite do it justice. But Bobby, Iris’s best friend, isn’t about to let her hide away. He drags her to a famous autumn street fair in Little Italy, and as they walk through the food stalls, a little family-run gelateria catches her eye—could it be the same shop that’s in an old photo of her mother’s?

This was a miss for me
Reviewed: 12-19-23
I typically love Josie Silver books, but this one was almost a DNF for me. I forced myself through it. There was no spark. The MFC lived so much in her head that all you heard was the same narrative repeated over and over and over. Her big truth was not even that big of a deal. Overall, I was very disappointed in this book.

Story
Out-of-work actress Sloane Ford is in desperate need of something to do after losing her steady TV gig. When her famous family ropes her into working as a producer on their World War II-era romance, they neglect to mention that the film will be headlined by Joseph Donovan, her least favorite former co-star of all time. The roguish actor made her life a living hell the last time they worked together, using his movie star good looks and Irish charm to cover for his erratic professional behavior. On their new film set, he promises he's different now, but Sloane is far from convinced.

I enjoyed this book. I felt like some of it wasn’t super realistic, but it is celebrities. If you are one of those people that needs it to be super realistic, this wouldn’t be for you. I thought the banter was good, and enjoyed the dynamic written between characters. The narrator was good with accents.

I had read the reviews, and I have to say i was pleasantly surprised! I enjoyed this book. I did listen to it on 1.2 speed. I thought the chemistry was written well. There was one part where i felt like the writer was allowing a person to verbally abuse and noone said anything until very far into it. I thought that was a bit weird, but overall def worth the read!

I most likely would have enjoyed it more with a different narrator. Some of the story was basic and repetitive but the narration was so distracting and lacking difference between characters. It was almost a DNF for me. I will not listen to another book with this narrator.

After getting dumped over the radio, with millions of listeners tuning in, my life is in serious need of a do-over. Trying to please everyone else isn’t working, so it’s time to focus on me. Triggers everywhere
Reviewed: 07-30-23
For anyone who has lived with a narcissist or dealt with gaslighting, self esteem issues or body shaming…, huge trigger warning and then when you think there might be resolution the FMC internalizes all of her actions to still be her fault.. including calling out her family members. This is not a romance… 90 percent of this book was about the triggers above. Narration was good.

Story
Twenty-five-year-old Lily Baines is used to waking up hungover, overweight, and underemployed. Waking up with fangs? Not so much. But when a little light necking has more serious consequences than she ever imagined, Lily is determined to get to the bottom of it or die (again) trying. Tristan hadn't meant to turn Lily—it's against vampire law—but now that she's here, they need to team up to save both their hides. They strike an uneasy truce, fending off other vampires, Lily's work-rival-turned-slayer, and her mother's tone-deaf romance and fitness advice.

The idea was great, but the execution was horrible
Reviewed: 06-21-23
The constant self sabotage was really getting old fast. Living in a plus size body you do experience issues with self esteem due to society and all the bs that comes with that. What is not a lived experience is others telling you that you are wrong for feeling the way you do in your body. I also felt the main female character was inconsistent. She could say eff off to her love interest but not speak up to her mother. The character and plot development was very weak… and noone uses the word obvi that often. It was a great idea for a story, love the representation but wish it was executed in a more thoughtful way. I would not recommend this book.

Story
As the black sheep of the family, choreographer Cassidy Bliss vowed she'd do anything to get home in time to help with her sister's wedding and avoid family disappointment . . . again. She just never expected "anything" would involve sharing the last rental car with the jerk who cut her off in line at the airport this morning. But horrible times apparently call for here-goes-nothing measures.

Story
You know those stories where an adorably misunderstood, clumsy girl needs a fake date to a wedding so she asks her brother’s best friend and they accidentally fall in love? I wish that was the kind of life I lead, but it’s not. I don’t need a date to a wedding. I need a date to a funeral. And I don’t have a brother, or a best friend with a brother available, which means I’m stuck with Tyler Jaeger. Sure, he’s a professional hockey player who also knows advanced calculus, but let’s say we’re not compatible and leave it at that. I should know. I am a matchmaker.
