Can’t do it
Reviewed: 02-17-22
I listened to 14 chapters and got to the sex and stopped.
There was nothing interesting about any part of it I listened to.
I was checking out a book in the series and decided to go to the first book first.
I’m glad I did so it saved me from buying any more.
In my opinion it was a waste of time and money.

I felt like I knew all the characters and never a dull moment. It wasn’t constant trouble and investigating but the family parts were interesting too.

Story
Hester Thursby has given up using her research skills to trace people who don't want to be found. A traumatic case a few months ago unearthed a string of violent crimes, and left Hester riddled with self-doubt and guilt. Caring for a four-year-old is responsibility enough in a world filled with terrors Hester never could have imagined before. Finisterre Island, off the coast of Maine, is ruggedly beautiful and remote - the kind of place tourists love to visit, though rarely for long. But not everyone who comes to the island is welcome.

What was she doing here? Hyattown had changed very little in the years Vanessa Sexton had been away. In some ways her high school sweetheart, Brady Tucker, hadn't changed much either - he was still lean, athletic, rugged... But the once reckless boy had become a solid, dependable man. He'd stood her up on the most important night of her life; could she ever trust him again?

I’ve liked everything from this author until now.

Story
Harley Merlin can sense people's emotions, among other things. It's how she snagged her first job pinpointing cheaters at a casino. But she has no clue where she got these freakish powers because she spent her childhood jumping from home to home in the foster system, and her father left her with nothing more than a cryptic note. Then she crosses paths with a terrifyingly real monster. Which is when a mysterious and annoyingly arrogant young warlock named Wade Crowley steps in, introducing her to a hidden world of beasts, magicals, and covens riddled with secrets.

I've listened to the 1st 6 books and they could all have been told in one if not for the endless stupidity and useless banter.
I hadn't reviewed any until book six and now this one.
They are the dumbest people on the planet or the writer is a child.
I don't even care how it ends now because obviously it's going to be the same stupid mistakes until the end and it will be stupid I'm sure.
I guess I'll get a condensed version from other readers comments because I'm no longer interested enough to listen for 10 hours a book to find out something that could be told in 10 minutes.

I listened to 20 chapters and the only thing I could deduce is there was a murder.
It was impossible to understand what the narrator was saying and retain any of it.
I wish they would tell the nationality of the narrator in the description.
I couldn’t finish the book and skipped from chapter 20 to 80 do I could put my 2 cents in.

Story
The body of an unidentified woman has been discovered in a remote forest. A large, unique scar on one side of her face should make the identification easy, but nobody has reported her missing. When a photo of the victim is released to the media, a woman recognizes the victim as Lisemette, a child she cared for in the state mental institution many years ago. Lisemette was a "forgotten girl", abandoned by her family and left behind in the institution. But it's soon discovered Lisemette had a twin, and both girls were issued death certificates more than 30 years ago.
