Publisher's summary

If it weren't for the fact that she's replacing a dead man, Kelly Jackson would love her new job managing the Redwood Cove Bed and Breakfast on the coast of Northern California. But Bob Phillips did plunge off the cliff to his death, and Kelly's starting to think it may not have been an accident. Bob's retired friends - The "Silver Sentinels" - are also on the case, especially when Kelly is attacked...and another body turns up. Kelly has her hands full with overseeing the B and B's annual Taste of Chocolate and Wine Festival, but she's also closing in on the killer...who's ready to send Kelly on her own permanent vacation.

Great Narrator and Good book

The narrator didn't just read the book, she was involved and "told" the book. It's a nice whodunnit and sets you up for the next book.

Not bad

Not bad. The mystery flowed with enough clues to keep the story moving. A neurodivergent child, relationship building, and senior sleuths all make for a cozy formula.

Good

This was a pretty good book that I listened to on audio. Kelly Jackson's family runs a ranch in Wyoming that's also open to guests in the summer she has decided that she wants something else out of life, so she's now working for a corporation that owns the Redwood Cove Bed and Breakfast, among others. She's temporarily working as the manager since the last one accidentally fell to his death off a nearby cliff. But one morning, she comes across a group of senior citizens in the conference room who call themselves the "Silver Sentinels" and they're sure it was murder. The deputy sheriff doesn't share their opinion and when she's attacked in Bob's office she informs the sheriff he still doesn't believe her so she and the gang decides to investigate. This was a good book and my first time listening to this author. I also liked the narration. I am looking forward to listening or reading the next book in this series.

It just didn't keep my attention enough.

I did enjoy the reveal of who did it though. They layed out the hints very well. It was just a lot going on.

the story line

Tommy is just adorable 😍 in the scenes with him, just a smarty at his age and love his dog Fred too.

Light (not cozy) Murder Mystery

This is my first Janet Finsilver series and I really enjoyed this light murder mystery. It has a lot of different characters that melt together very nicely. I also like how many of the situations are closer to real life - bravo on the character building.
The only thing that bugged me about this series is that our main female character, Kelly is apparently a black belt but whenever she gets in a pickle she rarely, if ever, shows these skills which are not easily forgotten.
Otherwise I really enjoyed this escape.

Murder at redwood cove

Story was good! Narrator could read and add inflection but was terrible at foreign accents for some of the characters… made me laugh

Glad I listened but didn't use a credit.

Drug on a bit but main characters were easy to like, had all the elements suspense, tiny bit of romance and also some warm fuzziness.
