Story
By synthesizing current research in the social sciences, Schwartz makes the counterintuitive case that eliminating choices can greatly reduce the stress, anxiety, and busyness of our lives. He offers eleven practical steps on how to limit choices to a manageable number, have the discipline to focus on the important ones and ignore the rest, and ultimately derive greater satisfaction from the choices you have to make.

It was just ok, but could use a better reader
Reviewed: 01-19-24
It was a decent book, but some of the examples are vastly overdone far beyond what’s needed to make the point. I also didn’t care too much for the reader as his inflections seemed really awkward at times.

Pretty good, but not quite as good as I was led to believe it was
Reviewed: 01-24-23
In general, I liked the book. It challenges the reader to change how they think about the saving & spending paradigm and it was an interesting ride, but it could have been a lot shorter. It’s not a long book to be sure, but even for it’s short length didn’t seem warranted based on the ideas presented.

Story
Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

This book grew out of a series of letters to my daughter concerning various things - mostly about money and investing - she was not yet quite ready to hear. Since money is the single most powerful tool we have for navigating this complex world we've created, understanding it is critical.

Truly excellent book and the audiobook is also really great
Reviewed: 03-18-21
I’ve read a good number of financial books advocating the FIRE principles but this is one of my new favorites. It’s written in a fantastic no nonsense but very accessible style with a little humor mixed in. I highly recommend it. Although my “reading” was actually the audible version, I got the physical book foe reference and I’d recommend anyone else to do the same.

Great compilation but audio has a couple problems
Reviewed: 02-26-21
The story and compilation is excellent! I especially liked the inclusion of original audio recordings of some of MLK’s speeches.
My only problem is there are a few cases where the audio seems corrupted. It sounds like the old days where a record skips. My guess is a glitch in the compression or a problem when converting from physical CD to digital file. I listened in the audible app, so this is from Audible’s source material, not on my end.
